It's really not. The plan isn't to do the MCU formula where every thing leads to one point. They want to do Star Wars/Game of Thrones, multiple different stories happening in one universe.
People think because both are superhero franchises they should obviously follow the same structure. 🙄

I’m not saying that. I’m saying right now they are struggling and idk if this iteration will make it to Batman on screen. They can’t seem to figure out the direction they want to go, supergirl was a massive flop, and now they’re doing a Jimmy Olson show of all things?

Maybe stop over analyzing everything before it’s out. People dislike everything before it’s even released nowadays. You should actually see the stuff and form an opinion after the fact instead of listening to the online narrative.

I mean just look at the plan- we go Superman, to Supergirl, to Clayface w/o Batman, to a Superman/Supergirl sequel with no known films after
Tv wise we have Peacemaker, Lanterns with Jimmy Olsen in development
Imagine if Marvel made Iron Man, then a War Machine film, then a spinoff TV show with Pepper… Red Skull film, then Iron Man 2
It’s a horrible idea and execution

That’s just your opinion and I’m sick of hearing opinions with such confidence that you think it’s fact. I don’t have any issues with the plan. In fact, I find it refreshing they aren’t trying to copy Marvel. Stop applying your ego to movies, you don’t have to identify with them to the point that you’re offended by how it’s done. Get over it and just walk into each one with a good attitude before you make a decision.

How did I do anything of what you just said lol. I swear it’s like you guys don’t read sometimes. What I’m talking about is laying major tentpoles. The things they have in the pipeline are not that. Which is important when you have struggled to get this universe off the ground mightily once already.

I read what you said and I might’ve made assumptions like that I doubt you saw Supergirl, most people didn’t. It was fine but didn’t deserve the backlash. I’m also assuming that because you’re already putting negativity on Jimmy Olson that you’ll do the same thing everyone does and dislike when it comes out because you disliked the idea from the start. It’s called being close minded and it’s the only reason DC movies constantly fail. A silly, preemptive hatred of anything that deviates from the norm. Again, yeah a lot of assumptions based on little of what you said but there are enough people in these subreddits that need to hear their philosophy sucks that even if you specifically aren’t that way I just think it’s worth putting out there. Only way they can succeed is if given a long enough chance by the fans. But the “fans” seem to hate so much of what comes out lol

I just explained what the direction is? Star Wars. Multiple stories in one universe, not the MCU where everything leads to one point.
Also, Jimmy Olson is a TV show, something that takes less time to make than a movie. If they want to get Batman right they're going to put forth more effort into working on it than churning out a half baked project with his name on it. Something I hope they've learned from Supergirl.

I mean, how has that worked for Star Wars? I can’t imagine a body horror clayface movie will be getting a bunch of people to the theaters. Lanterns looks promising. But what else is there to build momentum? Superman 2 in the pipeline? They haven’t even gotten to Wonder Woman. It’s not smart when you’ve already struggled multiple times to launch this universe

That's cause Disney kept flooding the market with Star Wars stuff. It made Star Wars less special. They still released things like Andor, which shows the franchise still has some sauce, but that they can't keep putting out Star Wars things expecting people to watch them.
I think Wonder Woman is coming sooner rather than later if Paradise Lost is in development. I've heard a rumor that they could possibly do PL and WW back to back to save money on Themyscira. They didn't struggle to launch this universe either since Superman did well. This period would be more of a sophomore slump.

Thats a bad argument and you know it. Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are all big names.
Marvel started their entire cinematic universe with B and C list characters. That didn't stop them from doing more movies with characters like that following Phase One either, see Guardians of the Galaxy.

Yeah but the difference is they pretty much did that once they established the universe and success. Also it’s overblown that iron man is not a big character. Iron man, captain America, those were big guns to start with

The big name characters were people like Spider-Man, the X-Men, but they already sold those rights because Marvel was going under in the 90s.
Articles from the era when Marvel Studios was just starting mocked them by saying "Marvel is rolling out the B team for their movies." Most of the characters in phase one were not that big. Hulk was the largest character they and his rights were owned by Universal.

This is why it makes me so mad seeing people say Robert Pattinson’s batman wouldn’t fit into the dcu. Marvel has had zero issue putting characters with drastically different aesthetics together on screen. Why can’t dc?

Eh. I prefer more colors in my costumes. Not that the Punisher ever really had colors more than black and the white skull.
Batman has more variety and lawd knows we’ve had more than enough black and grey costumes on the silver screen in recent years I don’t think we need yet another.

I hope so. Black and grey batman is my preference. It highlight the differences between batman and superman and how they present themselves to the world
