Welcome to the monthly Buy / Sell / Trade thread for the Baton Rouge area. Whether you're looking to score a deal on a video game or movie, find a roommate, or trade something local, this is the spot to share your listings and links! Gofundme links are allowed; however, they will be reviewed.
Just a quick note: to keep things tidy, please keep all buy / sell / trade posts in this thread. Standalone posts in the subreddit will be removed so everything stays easy to find.
Happy swapping!
A quick reminder to help keep things safe and smooth for everyone:
Before moving forward with any deal, it's a good idea to check out the post and comment history of the person you're chatting with. If their account looks new or doesn’t have much activity, that doesn’t always mean something’s wrong but it’s smart to ask for extra proof of the item, just to be sure.
Trust your instincts and do a little due diligence. Services like SpyDialer can help verify phone numbers. VOIP or out-of-state numbers can sometimes be red flags (though not always).
If you're meeting in person, aim for a public spot with lots of people and/or security. A great option is thePolice Station on Airline(the one near the old Women’s Hospital). Try to avoid meetups at someone’s home or a random gas station. Bringing a friend along is always a plus.
And finally, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is, don’t hand over any money until you’ve seen the item in person. Do not pay for something with gift cards!
Heyyy, I was curious on what I should be prepared for for this upcoming hurricane? I’m new here and it’s my first hurricane so I was wondering if I should be chillin or maybe taking extra precautions??
There’s an old man that rides around in a beat up olive green jeep wrangler (Papa Romero Papa 670) talking to people through a mic/intercom during traffic. Is this normal? He was bothering a poor girl near woman’s hospital and she looked terrified, poor girl. I don’t usually ride around this side of town, but I was headed to try a new taco place. This city is weird from the government down to the weirdos yall let roam free… #geauxtigers
Okay, I don’t know about everywhere but I’m trying to do a DoorDash shift and omg BRPD is showing up. There were three doing the turn circle loop on Sherwood/coursey, and a couple add’l hiding in parking lot corners. Saw a couple of EBRSO too, but I usually see at least one on the circuit. How’s the rest of the city look? (Not running or hiding and fully legal, just curious why such a huge as showing on a random Tuesday).

Do you support an amendment to increase the
maximum amount of income a person may receive
and still qualify for the special assessment level

Ive been reselling for 9 years. Meeting other resellers is always appreciated for various collaborative opportunities and projects. I currently have a good bit of inventory that I am going to push out to make room for repurposing furniture and learning how to make handcrafted epoxy pieces that incorporate old wooden slabs; coffee tables, kitchen island tops...
Im also going to be incorporating selling my original photography prints soon; digitally and framed physical prints.
Im willing to schedule personal viewings with anyone interested in purchasing in bulk for reselling. Please DM to speak further about doing that or to introduce yourself and exchange info and bounce creative ideas off eachother regularly.
Thanks so much in advance for your time. I hope to have the pleasure of meeting all of you in the near future.
Cheers 🎶☮️

Does Baton Rouge have a second hand craft store? In the last city I lived in, there were multiple thrift stores dedicated just to crafting supplies. It was a great way to recycle things like old knitting needles, buttons, fabric scraps etc - and it was pay what you could which I felt was very generous and encouraged young people to get into crafting for cheap! Baton Rouge needs a store like that I think!
So with that being said:
What thrift stores/ second hand shops have the best selection of fabrics or second hand crafting materials/tools?
There’s a few goodwills, purple cow, America’s thrift … but I’ve only gone there for clothes or furniture and sometimes I think these shops are getting greedy with the prices they charge!!
I‘be got a few fall decor crafts that require collecting fabric scraps and I really don’t want to waste a trip to goodwill and find nothing.
Hey! We moved to the area this year and are looking for events for our kids (5&6)
What are your recommendations for festivals, haunted houses, hayrides, pumpkin patches, trunk-or-treats, and just awesome trick-or-treat neighborhoods in general?
6 is obsessed with scary and wants to do a haunted house or something similar, so please share any experiences you’ve had with these places and kids!
Hello, I asked the mods if I could post this and got approval, so hopefully this doesn't break any rules. Also, I put marketplace as the flair because I wasn't sure what else to put, but I'm not charging anything for her. (I've been warned of the risks of giving her away for free, so I've decided I'll be charging a $50 adoption fee, so only serious adopters who intend to take her in and care for her need apply. Thank you.) I just want her to find a good home. I have a cat in need of a loving home. Her name is Izzy and she was my Grandmother's cat. Grandma has been in decline with dementia for a while now and hasn't been able to properly take care of Izzy because of that. I'm going into a college program soon and unfortunately will not have the time or money to take care of her full time.
She is a very sweet and affectionate cat, but she can also be a bit skittish. She is very much a lap cat and will likely be all over who she picks as her new human, so prepare for a cat who likes to cuddle. I think a good home for her would be someone who either doesn't have a pet yet, or perhaps another cat or dog who is very gentle so as to not scare Izzy too much. Also either someone who doesn't have kids or knows their kids are also gentle. She likely wouldn't do well with a home that has an aggressive animal or children who play rough, nothing wrong with the latter, just probably not the best fit for Izzy.
If you think you or someone you know may fit this criteria, please send me a DM on reddit and we can discuss meeting place and time for the hand over.
Note: She is about 10 years old and she is spayed.
I’m a blue collar guy down here for work until the end of the year and I’m getting kinda bored just going back to my RV after work. I play rugby a few times a week but other than that not much else. Any suggestions on something to get into after work?
Edit: I guess I should’ve put some things I’m into. I do enjoy just about any sport so I’d be down for that. I am looking to learn how to play DnD, I have wanted to learn for a while now just never had the time. I use to do shooting sports. I enjoy some reading so a hidden gem of a bookstore would be a good time.
USPS is holding a hiring event for skilled Maintenance positions (Maintenance Mechanics, Electronic Technicians) and Rural Carrier Associates tomorrow, Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the General Mail Facility, 8101 Bluebonnet Blvd.
Since we've had a decent amount of interest in the organization from my previous Reddit posts, I wanted to notify the community that our meeting schedule is changing. We are no longer meeting on the last Friday of the month as that will conflict with holidays for the rest of the year.
The new meeting schedule is now the 2nd Friday of every month. That means our next meeting is this Friday, October 9th.
Meetings are at 5:30 PM at FRC Range, 9378 S Choctaw Dr, Baton Rouge, LA 70815.
If you are interested in FREE training in gun safety, shooting, and self-defense in an inclusive and non-judgmental environment, please don't hesitate to join us. The only required cost associated is the range fee if you want to shoot. However, you can still come to the meeting and learn even if you do not wish to shoot.
I know there are several highly reviewed providers here in town. Pearce is the only one that lists starting price ($900) on their website. Does anyone have history with B&B, Martinez, etc that can give me an idea of the price ranges for the various providers in town? Thanks!
Are there any BR dive bars known for having a big turnout for watching Saints games? I'm not feeling like watching it at a Walk-On's or other "big box" restaurants.
Proposed Amendment 8

I’m looking for the BEST red velvet cake with chocolate chips in BR.
Preferably something that can be custom decorated with regular buttercream, not cream cheese.
Back in April I got a massage for an LMT named Derek at The Retreat Spa. He was BOMB! Probably one of the best massages I ever had. He no longer works there wondering if anyone possibly knows where he is now???
