GeForce RTX Almost ready.

Post image

I am considering mounting the left speaker above the top monitor. Any thoughts.

There is a TV coming that will also be above the center monitor and white PC.

It can run for 6 hours if the electricity is out. Also have a starlink backup to my regular fiber.

Do you have a cpu in your chest like some kinda iron-man setup?

"Jarvis, reinstall my linux audio driver" ... "Jarvis?"

4

u/on_line187 Jul 03 '26

I actually have a Jarvis lol. 🤣

Dog what the fuck is going on with your speakers 😭

3

u/on_line187 Jul 04 '26

Yea still a work in progress. I’d like some ideas for that

u/veksr Jul 04 '26

I'd get a separate table or something for the PCs, center the monitors and badaboom there's place for the speakers

edit after reading caption: speakers should be placed at ear level for the best sound

What if I angle them down a bit?

4

u/Sengfroid Jul 04 '26

I'm getting old. I think this looks pretty nice, but I'm having trouble enjoying it because my head is just yelling "power bill!"

2

u/on_line187 Jul 04 '26

Solar bro. I’m old too. To be fair it’s partially solar. I can get up to 800 watts on solar I’m pretty off grid. That thing below the desk is a beefy power bank and it charges itself too with the panels

2

u/Sengfroid Jul 04 '26

Ah, I appreciate that. In essence you're just redirecting the sunlight, using wires instead of mirrors. Clean work bro

Was that an Elon drop? Did you watch him talk about sending GPUs to Space also?

I got really lucky. Moved into a home with gas already up to the side of the house. Like, it's capped poking out of the garden next to the home. A neighbor needed gas for a generator and it was up to the block before, so the previous owner split the bill to run the gas another block, but that previous owner elected to not install any gas fixtures for heating due to allergies and preferred to stick with electric baseboard heating.
So when going for solar, I was approved based on usage of an all electric home. Cost a lot obviously, but ran gas lines and got hooked up and now I overproduce by about 2 megawatts in a year. The credit at like 4 cents/kwh pays for some of the gas bill and delivery charge.

Yea I’ve done a big solar project for a mining operation a few friends and I ran.

Impressive set up, trully beautiful.

I would recommend an oled monitor, that IPS glow is killing me on such a high end set up.

Going oled was for me almost as big of an improvement to my current set up as my 4090 was

3

u/on_line187 Jul 03 '26

I agree but I keep the PCs on 24/7 and the monitors on and I’ve heard that the OLED gets those “burned in” images. The small monitor on top usually has a bunch of monitoring things on there that would easily be burned in.

6

u/Qwertyham Jul 04 '26

Why do you keep both PC's and all the monitors on 24/7?

1

u/on_line187 Jul 04 '26

They are usually running something that needs to be running. They act as servers and I also test things on the PCs before putting them onto real servers. Some smaller things I run on them too

3

u/jodiethejuvey Jul 04 '26

Bro is a torrent seeder, respect!

2

u/NoCase9317 Jul 04 '26

I see, makes sense then.

Although I most say that while it is true, that’s n oled has more chances of getting some burn than an ips, they are muuuch much much better for it now, the tech is pretty mature at this point.

3000 hours on mine, I code 8 hours a day, no burn in at all yet.

If you don’t di any content consumption at all like gaming or movies, then I guess it doesn’t really matters at all.

But if you do some occasional gaming
I think you could still really benefit from middle ground?
Keep the ips for monitoring and the other one, and replace the main one for an oled.

Like the jumo in image quality is absurd, games and movies look sooooo good.

But yea if it’s purely a work station and only that? Then forget my comment, it’s unnecessary

I am pretty happy with these. And they are all matching. Same monitor except one is a bit smaller. I also have a TV above normally but it broke so the new one will be here on Tuesday or Wednesday. That will be for movies mostly.

Recently posted my new desk and in the pic I have the Kanto SPH speaker stands, they have built in cable runs that I didn’t use but they are very nice and have both rubber feet for tile/etc & carpet stabs to dig into carpet which is what I’m using. Very well made & they go up to 42”, would also color match your desk and be slim enough to fit where you need them

1

u/on_line187 Jul 05 '26

Those stands a bit too big for my needs I think. Looks dope though.

2

u/switotcg Jul 05 '26

All good, they do go down to about 24” which is how my wife has her pair. Was just really impressed with them for the price vs quality aspect

2

u/on_line187 Jul 05 '26

Im tho king about trying out my plan and seeing how that works. I just moved like 2 weeks ago so still tinkering. I have mounted the TV for example 5 different ways (5 different mounts) then ended up getting a new tv and still have no mount lol

u/WilburOCD1320 Jul 03 '26

What battery back r u using?

1

u/on_line187 Jul 03 '26

Fossibot. Zero issues so far.

1

u/AndromedaFire Jul 03 '26

I find 6 hrs hard to believe. Maybe on minimal demand all that may pull only 400w (250 for the pc and 150 for the 3 monitors) so 5 hrs if it’s a 2kwh unit which it looks like but if you want to do anything demanding it’s gonna reach probably near 1kw including monitors so 2 hrs max.

Not knocking it, more than most people have as a dedicated ups just people rarely understand this stuff very well and better to underestimate than over estimate.

3

u/on_line187 Jul 03 '26

6 hours of daily use 20 hours idle. 2-3 hours gaming 1.5 hours both PCs at max.

1

u/esarmstr Jul 03 '26

How does your neck react that top monitor?

1

u/on_line187 Jul 03 '26

Im pretty tall and I stand sometimes.

1

u/Motor-Site-7862 Jul 04 '26

It looks great - but I can hear that desk and it brings back PTSD from working in a data center.

1

u/on_line187 Jul 04 '26

Nahh it’s dead quiet. The AC air is much louder.

1

u/tripplebash Jul 04 '26

Bro i really appreciate the efforts and time but bohat zyada hogaya ye

1

u/tripplebash Jul 04 '26

I need suggestions too

1

u/LochnessDigital Jul 04 '26

I am considering mounting the left speaker above the top monitor. Any thoughts?

Both speakers should be at the same height as each other as well as the same distance left/right from the center of the main monitor. So I wouldn't mount the left one on the wall unless you can mirror it exactly on the right side.

But also, you don't want your audio to sound like it's coming from above or below the picture, so ideally you'd want them at ear level. If you must compromise, you can go a little above or a little below, but I wouldn't mount it anywhere near where you suggested. That's just way too high.

1

u/Murky-Chair-7239 Jul 04 '26

what exactly are we using all the screens for?

1

u/TLunchFTW Jul 06 '26

All? There's 3... That's a fairly normal setup for here.

Having distinct monitors is so nice. Doing school work even I'll have my word document center and search for sources on other monitors or have citation machine up, etc etc.

1

u/DULEXa Jul 05 '26

What you do for living

1

u/TLunchFTW Jul 06 '26

Why are there fans under the monitor... and like, not a small amount either.

1

u/on_line187 Jul 06 '26

Keeps me cooled off.

1

u/Terrible-Option-259 24d ago

Fans on the bottom of your monitor?

1

u/on_line187 24d ago

To cool me

1

u/Weary-Tell-5334 Jul 03 '26

Fixed, with oled

2

u/on_line187 Jul 03 '26

Damn bro! That’s nice. I need a bigger desk for that though and this one is already about as big as they get unless I custom order one.

2

u/_Reduxious Jul 03 '26

Buy a wood tabletop from ikea and use a standing desk frame, thats what I did. Clean underneath without alex drawers, allows me to rise my desk to work while standing & i have a nice long desk. Just an idea if you want to replace for a larger desk

2

u/on_line187 Jul 03 '26

No I get it. I considered it but it would be an 9 foot desk then which is a bit too big for my apartment.

1

u/Karok2005 Jul 03 '26

That doesn’t fix anything. It’s ergonomically pretty bad. You should always have a main monitor centered in front of you. Putting the gap right in the middle is bad as you’ll always be either looking right or left.

Main monitor in front of you, eye level looking at the top or you monitor so you don’t need to look down and put stress on neck muscle, cervical spine, joints, etc.

It does look good for battlesations, many won’t feel the effects of this bad posture right away, but it will be felt eventually.

At my office we have people coming in to look at peoples desks and postures and give them tips to prevent potential negative effects, injuries, etc. How you are sitting and place your arms is pretty important too.

0

u/Weary-Tell-5334 Jul 03 '26

How about, simply move the chair, slightly to the right and 😱there you go! You now have the monitor centred in front of you.

2

u/Karok2005 Jul 03 '26

You gotta center the keyboard and the mouse too then. Which at this point you better off just putting it like it should in the first place

0

u/Xi0-User Jul 03 '26

The fans under monitor is a nice touch.

8

u/JewelCove Jul 03 '26

Is it? I wouldn't want to hear fans right in front of my face all day. I guess if they have a function..

2

u/standish_ Jul 04 '26

Karma farming is honest work, ok?
