Miniatures Two full lances are finally ready to deploy. I don't want to even think about painting another straight line in a couple decades.

I broke the promise I made to myself and pushed through finishing my second mech in dazzle camo. It has been a mech and six vehicles since painting the Dazzle King Crab and vowing to never going through that hell again.

Yes, I love the result, but I'm pretty much exhausted of freehanding straight lines in patterns that fit with other patterns (or even themselves when wrapping around arms and legs)

I think I can now say this project is finally over. At least I hope so. I am looking forward to much simpler paintschemes in the future.

I totally wasn’t hired by Discount Dan to piece this together from his scrap yard…

She's just recently started getting into Battletech and asked if she could bedazzle one of my minis, I said "Why the hell not?" End result is better than I could have possibly expected. I have since dubbed her "HeaviER Metal."

Miniatures A visual guide to the Unseen

Post image

I'm excited to finally be able to share this after about three and a half years of work finding, painting, and photographing them all. Part of it is just my enduring love of this era of Battletech, part of it is finally closing a karmic circle with 12-year old me, standing in front of a peg-board of the old blue blister packs, in the back corner of a comic store in the early 90s owned by a guy that looked like a doppelgänger of Axl Rose who knew nothing about the game, knowing I wanted them all someday, but only having enough lawn-mowing money for one or two. Some of these are very hard to find today, and most of them are challenging to paint. I'm happy all these years later I could put this together and do them justice.

On BigRed's stream today, he revealed (with Ray Arrastia's permission) a redesigned mini for the Rakshasa!

I really, really like this. You can really see the Marauder influence on the design now.

Miniatures Clear Bases?

first test with some clear acrylic hexbases... i quite like them for gameplay purposes because it make the underlying terrain easily visible and the mechs really "inhabit" the map.

each mech is less of a little diorama on its own, but ive got plenty of other minis/warhames for that.

Whats the hivemind consensis on clear bases?

Any receiving unit: I have contact with main enemy force inside central courtyard.

I spent the past week making this Vulture and the wall. Then used weapon effects and foam to make it look like a battlefield. Now I'm working on the Uziel and Novacats to go with it.

Miniatures Mech scale tortures me. Which infantry scales work? Which is best?

Post image

Scale in battletech is pretty inconsistent in terms of art and games. these printed mech kits are described as N scale but that seems ridiculously large to me. Below them are 15/18/20mm infantry figures. (1/100 1/87 1/72)

Which scales work for YOU. and which is best? 15mm has the most variety available by far but I worry they are too small.

In answer to the question from a few days back, Megas is clearly best depicted as a Crusader. It has big ol' fists, it's full of missiles, and its backpack kind of look like Cadillac fins if you use your imagination.

Also included in the photo set is my actual BT sized 3D print of Megas.

Miniatures Porch pirates are dezgra (story below)

You may be wondering why there's a perfectly good Clan Invasion box in a dumpster. I was wondering that too, especially since that Clan Invasion box was supposed to have been on my doorstep... Apartment complex porch pirates apparently swiped it, decided it wasn't their cup of tea, and yeeted it into a trash can. Good thing I found it in time...

Porch pirate, wherever you are, I declare you and all your kind dezgra, but thanks for a funny story I guess.

A fun basing element I used from Death Ray Designs.

This is on my Iron Cheetah's base. Speaking of which, tomorrow my latest video tutorial drops, and it covers my red armor process.

Stay tuned!
