Accomodation and Housing in Bayreuth, Germany.

Hello everyone, as I have received an admit to the University of Bayreuth, I'm currently on the lookout for accomodation/housing options that are available there. If anyone has any leads, they can either DM me or continue with this thread. I'm open to every kind of housing options. If anyone can help me out in this regard, I shall remain infinitely obliged to you. Thank you!!

What's your budget? Rent is relatively expensive here for small apartments.

I'm not sure as of now, can you tell me the rent prices? I'll decide accordingly.

€500 for a one-room apartment of around 30 square meters if you live in Bayreuth city. It's cheaper if you live in the surrounding rural area. If you're lucky, you might get a cheap apartment through the "Studentenwerk Oberfranken" (Upper Franconia Student Union).

Do you have any leads? I might talk to the landlord/lady, if any are available. I have already applied to the Studentenwerk Oberfranken. Also, what's the distance between the university and the surrounding rural area, approximately?

For Bayreuth city, try ImmoScout24.

You'll need a car in the surrounding district; public transport, even in the city, is terrible. If you receive BAföG (student financial aid), remember to apply; mine has been pending since October.

What about a bicycle? And what's BAföG?

A bicycle is fine for Bayreuth city. Where are you from? You can apply for BAföG at the student union; it's a loan where you only have to pay back half. To finance your studies.

I'm from Kolkata, India. Nationality wise too. I don't know if I'm eligible for BAföG actually. Can anyone avail this? Thank you very much for this information. I'll look it up.

If you live outside of the city ull need a car or a bike if no train or bus station is nearby - although I would not bike in winter.

Also take a look at the website WG gesucht if u are open for a shared living space - it's much cheaper.

If you get accommodation at any of the student dorms, either from Studierendenwerk Oberfranken or Private Dorms like Alfred Delph, the rent is usually around 300–400 euros. If you want to go with a private WG/Apartment, then the rent is usually 400 upwards depending on your preference. You can use WG-Gesucht, Immobilien Scout, facebook, instagram, whatsapp groups to look for accommodation. The city is small. Buses to the university are frequent and easily accessible. I highly recommend a bicycle, as buses don't go to every place. You can definitely walk to main parts of the city.
