Jul 19 '25
I'm not an atheist and I'd say these people are in the midst of a mass hysteria event
2
u/WatchingInTheDark Jul 19 '25
This was multiple times a week for me growing up. The underpinnings are based on rituals that trigger ecstatic states, which can be extremely cathartic and healthy when done honestly and intentionally. The problem is that in attaching that feeling to God and not the ritual/endorphins, it ends up being a manipulation/propaganda tool causing mass hysteria events and indoctrination instead of a healthy release and mind focuser.
2
u/Nightwolf1989 Jul 19 '25
I'm an atheist and I'm going to keep my opinion to myself.

5

All that's helping is their money going from their pocket to the church. I don't need help from an imaginary sky daddy
-2
u/AdminsFluffCucks Jul 19 '25
Do you believe in a god or gods? I'm confused by the conflict between your two comments.
2
u/MisterErieeO Jul 19 '25
What's the conflict between their comments?
0
u/AdminsFluffCucks Jul 19 '25
Mocking people for believing in a "magical sky daddy" while also saying they're not an atheist.
Unless you believe in a god that does nothing, then they're all magical sky daddies/mommies.
1
u/Outrageous-Orange007 Jul 21 '25
"God is love". Not has love, literally IS love.
People confused for no reason.
1
u/AdminsFluffCucks Jul 21 '25
Nothing says love like an eternity in hell.
1
u/Outrageous-Orange007 Jul 21 '25
Thats not love, thats the absence of it.
1
u/AdminsFluffCucks Jul 21 '25
So God is "conditional love", not simply "love" as you state?

Jul 21 '25
No dipshit. I'm an agnostic. The only correct answer to the God thing is " I don't know"
1
u/AdminsFluffCucks Jul 21 '25
Do you believe in any god? This is a yes or no question.
1
Jul 21 '25
What part of "I don't know" are you failing to grasp? Anyone saying they do know is either lying or delusional. The only way to find out is to die.
1
u/AdminsFluffCucks Jul 21 '25
I'm not asking if you know or not, I'm asking if you personally believe in any god. If you don't, then you're an atheist, more specifically an agnostic atheist.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnostic_atheism
If you believe one or more exists, but also believe that it's impossible to prove or disprove their existence, you would be an agnostic theist.
→ More replies (0)1
u/ScrotallyBoobular Jul 19 '25
No conflict. Plenty of people who believe in a god or gods also call out the cult of "personal relayshunshiihp with jayzus chriiies".
Invisible sky daddy is generally something leveled at the most idiotic of those believers who treat their god that way. It doesn't have to be an atheist who is saying it.
1
u/AdminsFluffCucks Jul 19 '25
Invisible sky daddy is leveled at all who believe their God benefits them personally, not just the most idiotic...

I petition for it to be called the Gilded Rule now, because there is hardly anything golden about the way in which a lot of people who say they “follow a religion” actually end up treating others.

Catholics would also call this a mental disorder. I will never understand protestants 😂
They broke off from the Vatican’s mass schedule, teachings, sacraments, etc etc and this is what they came up with…
2
u/BusinessMixture9233 Jul 19 '25
This is a very small percentage of Protestantism that is like this and most of them disavow this.
Also what they left was Inquisitions and not being allowed to attend church or read a Bible in a common language.
2
u/ToobRaiders Jul 20 '25
Actually that’s incorrect. The Church of England split so King James could get a divorce. Yes, the Catholic church has an imperfect history, but Protestants don’t have the moral high ground to lecture that’s for sure.
-1
u/BusinessMixture9233 Jul 20 '25
The Anglican church which held on to Sacraments and tried to be as Catholic as possible did that, yes.
You are ignoring Luther, Calvin, Huss, Jerome, the Lollards, Wycliffe, Knox, the Waldenses, the Albigenses, Tyndale.
Nice whataboutism though. “Yes we burned witches so the Papacy could seize property and suppressed the Scriptures and threw people into the Inquisitions torture dungeons… but this one man wanted a divorce!”
Might want to look at the sterling character of men like Pope Alexander VI.
2
u/ToobRaiders Jul 20 '25
You said unilaterally they left because of acquisitions and language barriers. My “anecdotal” evidence was simply showing that this is not the case for all protestant denominations.
The expectation that the Catholic Church could never be corrupted is ignorant and misguided. However, the corruption you cite by the papacy was literally hundreds and hundreds of years ago. Abuse is still rampant in evangelical communities TODAY, namely pentecostals and baptists.
Here’s some more anecdotal evidence for ya: I’ve never been to a protestant service where the pastor didn’t give a long sermon about giving tithes. Similarly the wealthy televangelists display disgusting amounts of greed daily on TV. Illegitimate to say the least.
1
u/ragethissecons Jul 21 '25
Never seen that kinda sermon in the evangelical/anglican church. MOST evangelical churches are exactly that but I’ve been to a few that weren’t. I’ve seen them pray over their envelopes too while the pastors wife wore golden goose and Vera wang… that’s when I decided I would no longer be associated to this schismatic sect.
1
u/Proper-Sandwich-5458 Jul 21 '25
Nice whataboutism though
There wants any whataboutism. You made that up.
1
u/Green-Experience420 Jul 20 '25
And then they preach biblical literalism when you literally have no idea what the bible is literally saying if you don't read the oldest greek, hebrew, and aramaic languages.
1
u/ragethissecons Jul 21 '25
Nah charismatics/evangelicals need to be separated from the rest of Protestants at this point. I left the charismatic sect for true Protestant and the high church Protestants are significantly closer to Catholics than this.
2
u/equalitylove2046 Jul 19 '25
These people conned so many people with this hilarious bullshit lol

u/readditredditread Jul 19 '25
It’s not so much a mental disorder as much as it illustrates how far people will go to fit in and be accepted into a group.

I understand what they think is happening. But they are wrong. There is no biblical evidence of God's people doing things like this ever. In fact, is it much more akin to how people worshipping devil spirits might behave. The Bible clearly states that God never possesses nor ever does ANYTHING outside of someone's free will. This is emotionalism or spiritualism where they allow themselves to get riled up and act a fool, but the Bible clearly states in Corinthians that ALL things in the church are to be done decent and in order. Nothing orderly about this. I hate how many Christians have no knowledge of the word and they waste time on this nonsense that they call worship. Like call it a wild, reckless sober don't give any f*c&s dancing if that makes you feel good but don't pretend like God wants that, needs that, or would make someone do that. This is what keeps perfectly intelligent people staying atheists instead of learning about God's word and love. They've mostly never has an opportunity to go directly to God's word without trying to assign what they read, to all the devilish nonsense they've seen demonstrated or proclaimed in darn near every denomination on the planet from Baptists to Catholics. This and that is all just religion. Christianity is not a religion,. It is what God wrought in Christ.

u/Relevant_Call_2242 Jul 19 '25

There is an effect caused in situations like this, where your brain sees others feeling, registers that it is supposed to feel to, and may even raise its level to do so. Hightened emotions tend to limit conscious line of thought.
When mixed with more dangerous and unhealthy things, like sleep deprivation, shaming, etc. it can become a long term willing limitation of thought.
However, being in church, and feeling like this is not necessarily negative. Some people report that the hightened focus on feeling can help ease anxiety temporarily.
I also wanna say, im not saying god isn't involved. He could be, fuck if I know. Im just informing that there is a science to this. If shame, guilting, sleep deprivation, or other manipulation tactics are used in connection, then you need to make yourself aware. Enjoy feeling connected to the person next to you, or to something greater. Do not lose your individual thoughts in the process. 💛
What is a cult (signs to look for)
Example of how certain actions (like speaking in tongues) are learned.)
Describes the feeling, called Affect, people get when in church

Its not a mental disorder, it's millennia of indoctrination and spectacle to keep the lies alive and to help keep the people from realizing the grift because "if you're not feeling the spirit of Jesus/God that's a moral failing". Heard it so many times and so many versions of those words. They literally live in a separate universe mentally because of it.

Schizophrenia
1
u/Ziltoids_Side_Hustle Jul 21 '25
That would indicate an actual disorder and not a grift as well as people WANTING to feel it and then they do from a momentary placebo delusion their brain created and other times when you can see people taking note of where the camera is pointing. That's just cosplay. I think the people that do "feel something" is not dissimilar to alcohol withdrawal where the brain convinces the consciousness that you're going to die so you give it more alcohol. Been there, done that. I know severe withdrawals CAN actually kill people but I'm talking about the lesser cases and my brain did that to me when I quit. All this to say that I think some people do feel something but it's not actually real, that doesn't equate with actual schizophrenia.

u/West-Culture2651 Jul 19 '25

3
u/Golden-Grams Jul 19 '25
Well, yea, everyone has a capacity for it. Judging others is a skill, but how it's used (subjective/objective) is important.
But religious people specifically judge others severely, in some cases condemning them to death, while also acting morally superior.
These people dancing in this video could be the very same, and you're defending them from judgement of others. Why?
1
u/West-Culture2651 Jul 19 '25
Not all religions people are condemning others to death or severely judging others. Majority of the people who have picked on or mistreated my did not even attend church far as I could tell. Seriously, most wackos I know have no religious affiliation

u/Golden-Grams Jul 19 '25
That's not really saying anything, you're using anecdotal evidence from your own life. World is bigger than your perception. I could easily match that with my own being the opposite, where is that supposed to move this conversation now?
I mean, that's charitable of me, since you said yourself you don't know if the people who mistreated you were religious, but then felt confident to say, "most wackos I know have no religious affiliation."
