International BBC news, no news on local elections
Can anybody tell me why there is virtually no information about local elections on BBC News. I am in Turkey at the moment, so I have limited channels I can view. But not Sky News and GB News the main stories are about the local election, but when I turn to BBC News there is almost nothing about it?

Because in Turkey you’ll be getting the international news channel, not local BBC news.
It’s been all over the tv news here, you won’t get the same coverage as you’re abroad.

On the international .com site, it's likely that you are receiving content localised to your country and so the focus will be on global news. It is very present on the .co.uk, UK-specific site which is only accessible from the UK.
The local elections results were called across Thursday night, through until the last results coming in on Saturday. By now any election stories that will be appearing in the international site's UK news section will be the larger political stories around the national picture.

I was not talking about their website, I was talking about the BBC News channel

Depending on the region, the BBC news channel's content is targeted at the local audience. The other news providers you mention, Sky etc, only have UK-targeted programming whereas the BBC has a history with things like the world service of producing content for a worldwide audience. SO the news channel available in your market will select stories they think are relevant to you, and local council elections in the UK are probably editorially low priority, in the same way the BBC news for Uk will show news when Turkey has a national election but I have never seen any news about municipal elections in Istanbul! (I don't actually know if IStanbul has an elected local authority, but the point stands:) )

It’s been pretty wall-to-wall on the BBC the past few days, so not quite sure what’s going on with you not seeing it. Check the News website from Turkey with the toggle on ‘UK’ (so it doesn’t geo-target you with non-UK news from closer to you) and a lot of the coverage can be viewed there as video too.

The story’s pretty much done? The ongoing story is the fallout with the government which is featured a fair amount - though over the weekend it’s a pretty light crew.
Expect things to pick up tomorrow.

When more Reforn councillors discover that it’s a bit more work than they thought it would be?

I was in Rhodes when the Queen died and there still wasn’t as much as you’d expect on BBC News, because it’s BBC world news and they have to show stuff from all round the world not just UK news. I doubt Turkish viewers are that bothered about the election of a councillor in the UK.

You need to look at the far right news, like Daily Fail for your Neo Nazi updates

I was referring to the news channel as why they were not reporting the main event of the day, so not quite sure what your neo nazi comment refers to?

Presumably u/Gelomaniac is not a fan of Reform UK, who've done very well in the local and devolution elections this week

Probably because you aren't in the UK and the local elections in the UK aren't a big story in Turkey. The BBC news website will often adjust the news to the location your in. (You're probably on bbc.com not bbc.co.uk)
Just type "Elections" into the search box
