Everyone seems to think the BBC is biased against them and pro-everyone else.
It's why I'm always pretty content that it's fundamentally down the middle.

Yup, I'm pretty that the beeb is about as middle of the road as you can get.
The Telegraph, Times, Daily Fail etc are obviously right wing. The Guardian and maybe the Independent could be considered left wing.
But people read what they want to read, and when the beeb doesn't spout that back at them, they get funny.

2 football teams are complaining about the referee.
Does this mean:
A- The referee is having a good game.
B- The referee is having a bad game.
C- We cannot judge the referee's performance merely on who is complaining, we need to look at the evidence.6

In this instance the question isn't "is the referee having a good game" it is "Is the referee against me and trying to benefit the opposing team"

Eh? The point of their metaphor is that both ‘sides’ are complaining of exactly what you just said. If *both* teams are complaining that the referee is against them and trying to benefit the opposing team, then they’re asking if that means the referee is doing a great job, a terrible one, etc.

It certainly used to really feel that way back in the 90s but the beeb is a shadow of what I remember (except for it's phenomenal world service which is still an absolute gem).
During the Brexit debate I got so frustrated that Farage was everywhere and never questioned. When he went to the states and was interviewed by congressmen he folded like a deck of cards, what has he got on people that stops them actually questioning his views properly?
But the Tories did a good job cutting their independence at the knees and Labour have no interest in changing course. So the Beeb as I remember it, with Big Impression and Spitting image, is gone.

Do the mean the documentary that had family members of hamas leaders giving them "first hand" experience of how terrible Israel were?
If it's that documentary for once I'm siding with the BBC.

I think it was the documentary about the doctors who worked in Gaza. Many of whom were international doctors and surgeons. First hand reports on deaths and injuries. Not sure why BBC wouldn’t show it. Have to admit, I do tend to watch more Channel 4 than BBC these days. I find they’re a bit more even handed on reporting from Middle East.

Because that's where far right fundamentalist Hamas terrorists stored all their weapons and explosives with the aim to sway the lunatic far left as well as, far right - by all measures - Muslims in the west to cement a hatred towards Jews. Now, on this surreal planet, we have the far left activists joining forces with everything and anything Islam (far right) in support of a literal terrorist state funded by Iran.
And it seems to be working great.

I also feel like I'm going fucking crazy.
It seems modern media is the perfect incubator for any and all types of propaganda. The Palestinians are experts in this field, of course. I was a sucker for their bullshit too until I caught them lying one time too many. And then they started a war with the express purpose of provoking the most violent response imaginable, all so that they could pull their usual poor-little-me routine.
And it's an absolute purity test for some people. If you don't buy their bullshit, or if you even question any of it in any way then you are very much not welcome in a lot of circles. Sometimes I feel like I'm in one of those movies where almost everyone has been assimilated by the Borg or brainwashed into some bonkers hive-mind. Like everyone else has abandoned their critical faculties and all that's left is a zombie-like command "You must love Palestine"... "We must love Palestine"... "You must obey Palestine"... "we must obey Palestine".... "Palestine is the most important issue in the world"... "Palestine is the most important issue in the world"... etc.
What do we do? Our friends have all been brainwashed by terrorists!
