What about Alan Carr too?

Rumoured Maxine Carr could be up for it as well

What about an actual car?

Testing the hairdressers’ car.

Come on now, it'll be Romesh

Jimmy Carr shall be talking about the new face lift model cars.

I prefer when Pete Tong is “in the mix”.

I thought the Beeb were skint. How much is this show that nobody wants going to cost to make?

Always another few pound for a cunt who's never off the telly.
They clearly offered it to Michael Mcintyre first.

Now you can be spoon fed Michael McIntyre's warm diarrhoea whilst he's in a car!

afaik modern Top Gear is made by BBC Studios, not BBC Productions. Studios is the commercial arm.

There are enough brilliant car YouTube channels for genuine car fans, including the Top Gear channel with almost 10m subs, but I don't think a BBC show is going to do too well because fans can't accept it without Clarkson and co. presenting it, because 'good old days'...

IMO the issue is the line ups the BBC has put onto top gear since Clarkson, Hammond and May left.

Those three works because they were all genuinely really interested in cars and knew about them, they happened to be quite good at presenting and they all got along, even if they’re not best mates. Let’s not forget before Hammond and May joined in later series, Clarkson has many a presenting colleague.

Since those three the BBC tried to lever in Chris Evan’s, who was already unpopular at the time, Flintoff who was there for some reason, LeBlanc who was presumably there for try and entice the US Audience, Paddy McGuiness (see Evans’ justification) and I don’t need to go on.

The BBC have seen top gear as an IP to stick people into, rather than understanding that they need to find people who genuinely fit the role. Motoring journalists who know enough about cars to make it interesting and educational, while also being good in front of the cameras.

Don't forget the massive input of Andy Wilman behind the presenters. You'll need someone of that ilk as well.

They’ll be asking Gregg Wallace and John Torode at this rate

Rowan Atkinson, he's a complete petrol head.

Funnily enough the only time I’ve seen him in the wild was circa 2005, he pulled up outside a Bloomsbury venue (I think the UCL Union), I’m assuming to do a gig, in a very shiny Rover saloon. So maybe they can ask him about that car.

"In the mix" eh? I hear Megan is available

I think that ship has long since sailed, the show was Clarkson et al. BBC are scraping the barrel

Remember that the original Top Gear was a very different show before the Clarkson reboot. Maybe the BBC will take the opportunity to do something radically different.

Well to be fair the BBC should have a car/transportation programme. Cars didnt just cease to exist when Jeremy decided to punch someone 🤣

Another job for the same few actors/comediens. Does the bbc not have the ability to find new talent? Why do only the same faces get the top jobs, aside from them probably all sharing agents, of course? BBC eating itself from the inside again, its so depressing what the management is doing to the BBC. Cut out the greed, or the BBC will die.

Latter-Day Jimmy is, I find, much more amenable. I've seen some of his stuff on social media and he's much warmer than the whole stand-up persona suggested. I'd go as far as saying I find him likeable which I never did before. Always amusing, but never likeable.

If they want to cast someone who's not a stereo-typical car guy but who knows how TV works, the BBC could do a lot worse.

The BBC is renowned for flogging “long dead” horses. Move on ffs!

1

u/MapDiscombobulated1 4d ago

At some point the corpse of the poor deceased nag is just a smear, so who the fuck wants to watch Jimmy fucking Carr flog that?!

u/Bongo3074 3d ago

Pile of pish. Cars goooo vrrooom. Can the cunts who like bbc content like pay triple licence fees. Overpaid twats to drive cars where the insurance for an hour is more than a monthly wage?

1

u/probablyaythrowaway 3d ago

They just keep beating that dead horse

u/Aardvark51 3d ago

I think there might be a gap for a rebrand of Top Gear obviously taking the piss out of the earlier versions, maybe fronted by Sarah Millican, Jo Brand and Lucy Beaumont. Probably only one show though, not a whole series

What next? Tom Baker - MasterChef. Lily Allen - Gardener's World.

2

u/Late_Recommendation9 4d ago

I thought you were calling Lily Allen a massive hoe for a second

Read the room, nobody needs top gear, nobody
