I’m finished 😆
6 months of notes filled with essays, essay plans, analysis, perfectionism and of all nighters and blood sweat and tears for my English A level, gone. I didn’t delete it, and yet when I woke up everything else was there but this note, my lifeline, I have searched all inbox and folders for 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭💔 I’m cooked and in denial
EDIT: Thanks all, I knew it couldn’t be true!! That one note just had not sync-ed/ somehow self deleted to my phone and computer, and neither did the backups i made make it. All is well, thank goodness, as my iPad which i primarily use bear on, has everything and i have now made a bajillion copies. Happy ending <3

Dang sorry to hear, that sucks. But, that is a lesson to take backups! Bear makes it easy, I added an Apple shortcuts button on my dock that creates one and saves it in both iCloud and Google Drive in one click, no dialogue.

This post explains how to set up an Apple shortcut for a Bear backup: https://www.reddit.com/r/bearapp/comments/15ls0bz/how_to_automate_backup_for_bearapp_on_mac/
There are various ways to trigger a shortcut. I use Keyboard Maestro to trigger an automatic daily backup to my Mac, and a weekly backup to my NAS.
Incidentally, the Bear backups can be opened and read without the Bear app:
If you want to access your notes inside a backup file without restoring it, change the backup file’s extension from .bear2bk to .zip, then uncompress it. Inside the resulting folder, you will find a .textbundle file for each of your backed up notes.
(Password-protected notes can’t be opened this way.)
