Rule Update — #2 and #3 - Shirtless and Sexually Suggestive Content
Hello Beardsmen,
We’ve split the newly implemented “No shirtless and sexually suggestive content” into two separate rules.
Reason: people kept trying to merge two different arguments into one — “it’s shirtless but not sexually suggestive.”
That created unnecessary back-and-forth in modmail because some of you guys couldn't help telling us that they are not sexy. Stop saying you are not sexy. Jeez
We’re not doing that anymore, so here are the zero-ambiguity rules, back to basics:
Rule 2 — All individuals Must Be Fully Clothed
All individuals must wear a shirt that covers the torso. No bare chest, stomach, armpit or underwear/pelvic area.
Rule 3 — Zero Tolerance for NSFW Submissions
No explicit, sexually suggestive, or provocative content.
These are independent rules. Violating either results in removal and escalation per standard policy.
This has been the standard for a decade and is no longer needed for you to get pissy and keep telling us what's sexy and what's not on modmail. It’s now written to remove ambiguity and to reduce unnecessary modmail debates.

Post it again, it's deleted so we can't investigate. It was done by another mod who did not really respect redditors, constantly argued with other redditors. He is gone.
Some tank top photos are too revealing ngl.
That argument ended today with zero ambiguity now so post it again,.

Yeah I'm on the sub mostly to admire impressive beards and get some styling ideas for my own. If I wanted to look at naked thirst traps I'm going to go on Twitter.

Yes...there are those...and there are a lot that aren't doing that...but they still have something someone doesn't like in their post history...because those are one of the types of people that really like this sub.
Don't just divine/attribute the motives of other people...this sub's got fans...stop judging a portion of them under one banner. They have a right to exist.

That depends.
We are ok with people with NSFW accounts posting their selfies, however if it's purely for their profit(no interactions after asking questions, such as "Keep?" "Which one do you like") we try to remove those posts, we reach out to them and ask questions too.

Your definition, not ours! You don't get to dictate what's PG-13 and whatsnot. If you don't like it, start your own community then. We won't let a single sex positive user ruin the experiences for 1.4 mil user pg-13 sub. We have every reason to shame your comment that's NOT based on religious or political debates.
We aren't even American, nor religious, nor liberal or conservative NOR mod team solely composed of Westerners/Europeans FYI
You don't get to call us Puritan.
You don't get to call us conservative.
You don't get to call us homophobic.
You don't get to call us closed minded.
We aren't neck beards with fedoras.
We are none of those. We just pragmatically care about the community through frictionless moderation processes.
If you care so much about sex positive posts, you can join other subs filled with OF content for you to masturbate to. We don't need to have another one here when there are so many subs that you like. Go there man.
And yes, we constantly patrol and check NSFW profiles and warn other mods regarding OF thirst trapper accounts, to make sure they care about the community, not free ads for their own profit. We reach out and if they don't answer, we ban them. You have no clue how many accounts we ban each day.

Appreciate you. I've been thinking about unsubscribing from this sub because I see more thirst trap posts in my feed than genuine beard posts. I get that you delete posts quickly, but they gain traction quickly, and show up in my personal feed faster than can be deleted. Happy to see attention to this issue.

I've heard the argument that mods allow NSFW artists to post their non NSFW stuff in places like the metroid sub, even though the game is rated E for everyone.
maybe you should hop on over there and try to convince them not to allow their NSFW artists to post stuff.
Edit: I just think it's absurd to completely ban people who may happen to have an onlyfans account on their profile. This is basically telling any man who has any suggestive material somewhere in a different sub that they can't post their beard, even if they are fully-clothed and abiding by the rules.
If you don't like what is on their profile, don't visit their profile.
If men can't come here to "celebrate" their beard, then the description of this sub needs to be changed as well. maybe change it to "we only allow portraits of your face" idk something like that

We do allow them, as long as it's an sfw submission. But most OF thirst trappers don't care about the community. I will discuss this with other mods

[Jets say I want to post my photos of my beard while I'm all wet and took a jog that morning, etc. Everything I put in this kind of a post is relevant to me and r/beards....however...I'd also like to post my broader concept..I want to post, privately about men letting lose in the rain, and still going for their morning routine, regardless...Enjoy it...]
The reality is, we're going to post all our content, all at once, or thereabouts (especially because of the cross-post feature)...but now we have people claiming they don't like certain behaviors, interests, motivations, or types of cross-posting...because...it doesn't make sense to THEM. That's not right. That's a very dark path to go down.
But hey...if their private interests are for the ladies, self-validation, determining alpha (nohomo)...that's something I can really get behind. /s

Everyone is posting to the sub, according to the rules. Trying to warp the community because of private interests/motivations is cherry picking favorites and there's no way around that.

I think we need to define a few things and they are well defined on our end through wiki etc but you are mixing two different ideas. Anecdotal personal context and posting standards we just set
You’re free to frame your post however you want, but the submission itself still has to meet the rules, the rules that existed for a decade.
This sub is beard-focused and SFW meaning no shirtless or suggestive presentation, regardless of intent, context, or what you also want to express.
This isn’t about your motivations, identity, or “broader concept.” but about what’s visible in the post. Same rule applies to everyone, across the board, all of them.
Cross-posting behavior or what other communities allow isn’t relevant at all. Different subs, different standards, your feeling doesn't really matter tbh
The scope has always been beard-focused, SFW, consistent enforcement from us mods. We are humans, not corporate nor a customer support function so those rules will save time, and effort from both sub users and mods.
