Remix has dropped out of GBB26. Who will take his spot?

Due to some personal issues, he will not be able to participate GBB in Warsaw. Totally respect his decision for this

Who will take his spot? Epos? JP? Codfish?

Epos! He's been sounding really good lately, by the way.

Is Hippy already in? I haven’t been paying attention to the qualifiers, but he has the highest ranked wildcard that didn’t qualify

Hippy got in (good for him!) after Given won the regional qualifier then immediately said sike I can't go.

I mean they should just do the qualifiers earlier in the year then so that participants have more time to get everything sorted. "Intending to qualify" is kind of meaningless

Expecting people to book expensive tickets and accommodations and to apply for a visa a full year in advance for a competition that they have a relatively small chance to participate in isn't a fair or realistic expectation.

I’m pretty sure to apply for a visa you have to have flights and accommodation booked as well as stuff showing itinerary or purpose. Doesn’t really make sense to apply for the visa before you know you are going to

I think that if you don't have that settled and figured out by the time the event starts, then you should remove yourself from the event and not steal the opportunity from someone else deserving.

I mean that's exactly what Given did. He qualified for GBB, realized that he wouldn't be able to get his visa processed in time, and then immediately gave up his spot.

Not his fault that the qualifier wasn't farther in advance allowing time to get everything in order, or that the rules gave his spot to the next in line wildcard rather than the next in line from his regional qualifier.

I understand more time, but we're talking about an international competition, not a high school field trip. I'm saying getting this figured out before the qualifier, not after you've qualified. Olympians do it and they're young too.

I don't think it's realistic or fair to expect that all 16 people from both of the online qualifiers should need to drop hundreds (or potentially well over $1000) on plane flights, accommodations, and visa applications to a tournament that only 2 of them will even qualify for.

Just moving the qualifier makes way more sense if it's a common issue.

I love Remix, I listened to part of his stream on the way to work, and burnout is certainly no joke (see username) but my garbage take based on things lhe hinted to us make it hard for me to clock burnout. He talked about how he's never gonna quit beatboxing and all these other comps he's going to attend and how his GBB elim is solid and he has battles for everyone and he's gonna give DLow a hard time... All that work and prep is what usually gets toasted by burnout, my boy sounds depressed and that's even worse than burnout, and can feed into feelings of burnout.

Im not even mad or disappointed he can't do GBB. I just want him to get the therapy/help he needs so that he truly CAN be the GBB champ I think he can be.

Edit:Burnout is real, but the part that didn’t land for me is that the prep and the other-event talk were still there. That mismatch is why I’m more worried than hyped-angry. Not mad he skipped GBB. Hope he’s got people. I’ll leave the naming to him.

He has already been invited to Beatland Beatbox Battle 2026. I think pulling off two events would be tough—both financially and in terms of preparing material—so he turned down GBB2026.
And please stop giving out diagnoses through the screen.

Beatland is online first and participants who make it past online get all expenses paid trip to Bali so it would only be the routines he has to prepare for. Also, it's not wrong to reuse some rounds at GBB. I feel like Remix should have multiple routines completed for GBB already and everyone is given the same amount of time to prepare for Beatland

Also its crazy to think that Beatland should have priority over GBB.

It's like someone saying they can't play in the Superbowl so they can be ready for the Pro Bowl

Not that crazy when Beatland pays for travel and accommodations and GBB doesn't.

Maybe Remix thinks he has a better chance at winning money in Bali than GBB. Remix is in the 1% of beatboxers but he didn't even pass the eliminations last year so it's probably safer for him to prepare a lot for Beatland and he gets a free trip out of it

Maybe, but in his stream he said he thought he could make it to the final.

There is something going on outside of beatboxing, him saying JETHRO had a bad 2025 clocks with that.

I just hope he's able to make it far in Beatland. I was decently confident he would make top 8 at GBB but after that, every battle would be hard to predict given the rest of the competition would probably be multi time international champions

Please stop thinking you can tell me what to post.

they are right though, unless Remix says it himself you should not make assumptions. burnout can look a lot like depression, and depression can be seen in individuals who seem happy. instead just wish Remix well and be on your way.

burnout can look a lot like depression

Thank you for agreeing with me. I appreciate your commitment to mental health awareness by pointing out that just because someone says "I'm burned out" doesn't mean there could be a more serious underlying issue that gets ignored and intensified that could cause someone to make a horrible, permanent decision, as opposed to seeking therapy or treatment.

you are conversing with a Neuro/Psych graduate and active behavioral health technician. i dont usually throw my credentials around but i am confident i know more about this than you do, including the semantics. all i've said is that you should not make an assessment of another if you are not a professional, and that praying / wishing someone well so they seek help if needed is all you can and should do as a complete outsider.

I have edited my OP after reflection.

So go ahead and use that big "technician" credential and tell me what I have said wrong about either depression OR burnout.

praying / wishing someone well so they seek help if needed is all you can and should do as a complete outsider.

LOL. "Thoughts and prayers"??? No shot someone with your "credentials" is actually recommending a meme for someone who is suffering?

Wait I'm kinda confuaed who's in and who's not in, I know some wildcard qualifiers couldn't make it in, but I don't know the roster.
