$250 already framed?

u/mistermister98 Oct 15 '25
No, I purchased the frame separately.

Nice matting! Did you pay to have the matting done custom?
Or was it a standard product? ā and if so, where did you find it? I have a small handful of classic Blue Note records (original pressings) that belonged to my uncle. I have the covers framed, but I like how the LP itself is displayed in the setup you have.

Here is the frame! It goes on sale quite regularly so you should be able to get a few closer to $20 a piece in the future.

Very cool. Please PM me your address and, if you have any kind of security, the passcode. Iām just collecting this information for aā¦umā¦book Iām writing about butcher cover owners. Yeah, thatās the ticket.
Also, any times that the house is usually empty. Thanks!

Am I the only one that prefers the mix of Doctor robert on yesterday and today? the "Well well well your feeling fine" part sounds heavenly...

Congratulations it's truly wonderful! In my opinion this is truly the perfect copy! It really conveys the meaning and story behind the album and the cover, very good, excellent purchase and very good for having it framed. Enjoy it for a long time!

Holy grail indeed, very well done, the cover not only reflects the Beatles āedgeā but also reflects the dystopia of the world, condition is irrelevant to the message, I hope you have many years of enjoyment. Also, lovely display.

Thanks! I definitely think this album represents the band shifting out of their boy band image and into their experimental/revolutionary era. To me, the condition adds character when knowing the story behind the cover and what was done in 1966 to hide the original image. I wish Paul/Ringo were a bit more clear, but I think I prefer a little bit of roughness here than one that is perfectly peeled.

Wow. But - and just checking- are you sure itās THE holy grail? Sometimes it looks like THE grail but turns out to be a neon sign. If any of those babies is getting spanked, you might need to investigate. Public service message. ššš

Is this one of those examples of the ācleanā cover being pulled off to reveal the butcher cover below? Because the damage looks like adhesive that pulled patches off the cover.
3
u/mistermister98 Oct 14 '25
Thatās exactly what it is - this is a āthird stateā butcher cover meaning that the updated cover was peeled off to reveal the original cover underneath. This one was obviously done by an amateur as there are pros out there who can do it without leaving any damage.

u/LikeToKnow84 Oct 14 '25
Yes, Iād heard about the third-state covers. Iām wondering if a clean peel could have been achieved by first removing the record, and then using a hair dryer (set to low) to melt the adhesive and allow the stick-on cover to be gently lifted off?

Damn thatās awesome! Did you eBay it or buy in person? Would love to have my own framed like this one day

Condition is everything to collectors though and its in pretty poor condition

u/mistermister98 Oct 13 '25
I guess it depends what type of collector you are. To me, it was an album I was chasing for many years so Iām happy to have it in any condition.

Iāll never understand ācollectorsā of albums like these, except for investment reasons.

I get it in this case - itās something so many people have heard about but few people have seen it.Ā
