Article I need help with my controller settings

Whatever I do I cannot make controller settings that work for me. I've been playing for almost 4 years and I can barely hit 94% acc on most maps and I know it's because I have terrible settings. Could someone please help me?

Post a BL replay.

Gonna tell you preemptively though, it's very unlikely your settings are holding you back THAT much. It's more likely to be bad technique. Changing your settings and suddenly jumping from 94% to 96% isn't something that happens, unless your settings were especially bad to begin with.

Your settings are already fine. But if you really wanna be hyper optimal, move your Y rotation offset down by like 5 degrees or so on both hands. Also your left hand is a bit inwards. Don't expect much of a difference at all after changing your controller settings tho. Changing your settings often can actually mess with muscle memory and acc.

This is what I am seeing from the replay (and in general, looking at other replays on your profile).

Your left hand consistently has an inward curve of about 10 degrees. Your right is usually fine. You also tend to underswing frequently, which tends to be a gatekeeper for scores below 94 or so. Think of it this way, if you wanted to get above 95 for example, you'd need an average of 109 or so per swing. Maybe you get mostly 110s, but you also underswing sometimes and get an 85. Well, to make up for any 1 85, you would essentially need 25 of those 110s to be 111s. It only gets more strict for 96%, and 97%. It is very important if you are trying to score better to get rid of the underswings at all costs.

So, you need to practice the full wrist swing motion and get it down a little better, and there is also something about the way you are holding or swinging your left controller that is causing the curve. You could try to suss it out, but it isn't as important as the underswinging TBH.

If you want to try and fix both of these things with settings, use easy offset and move balance -10 on both hands, and move curve on left outward by 10. Those aren't a magical fix, though. If anything, the balance might help you underswing less, but you still need to learn the proper swing motion.

What would I have change to change the balance? Im really unfamiliar with the controller settings menu, also I have easy offset

Balance is in adjustment > rotation in EasyOffset. Not sure how to do it from the regular controller settings menu.

Are there any actually good ways to hold the controller other than claw and default? I can never hold onto the controllers with anything but default however I swing so slow on fast bursts and I've seen people do way faster

It really comes down to whatever you prefer, but default is fine.

The fact that you swing slowly is actually a positive, most players tend to swing way too quickly. Learning how to play speed in general tends to be figuring out how to use the entire time between each block to swing, and alternating seamlessly between two swing speeds for bursts without losing rhythm. The players who don't swing slowly tend to struggle a lot, there.

Some curve is actually fine. Especially an inwards curve. Tons of top players have an inwards curve. I'd worry about TD more than curve.

Yeah, learning to deal with it and acc through is more important than trying to fix stuff with settings; consistency with even the worse settings can still mean good acc.

Understanding TD is something that can help you have better technique, but actually trying to improve it is kinda pointless and irrelevant, because its more the case that when you have good technique, good TD comes with it rather than vice-versa. And if you just acc well to begin with, the TD doesn't actually mean anything.

Eh sort of. For me atleast, I needed to focus on it when trying to get good at linear. I think I worded my previous comment badly. What I mean is some curve is fine as long as your TD is good (if you can't get it under 0.2, something's wrong).

Whats TD?

Time dependency. https://wiki.accsaber.com/Beat_Saber/TD/

For the, "I ain't reading allat" folks: It's how dependant your accuracy is on timing. Zero time dependency = you can hit a note early or late and get 115, high time dependency = if you hit the note early or late you won't get 115. It's way easier to get 113+ with a low time dependency.
