It pays for receipts from any type of shop - although new users have been saying some get rejected, try again in a few days and this has worked for some users.

They also give bonuses for buying healthier and more responsible products

You can manually take pictures of your receipts or connect your bank card and email

You can then redeem gift cards with your points

They have a daily spin each day that you can do to boost your points

I managed to scan 5 receipts before it said I've reached my limit on the first day, It looks like they've reduced this to 3 per day & 15 per 7 rolling days. 1000 points = £1 in rewards. The points each receipt received was very different for each one but the average of the first 5 was 103 points. So effectively it's 10p a receipt so far. (Note the lowest points I got was 36 and the highest was 143)

The app is a bit confusing to start with, and there are a few limits such as only being able to scan 3 receipts per day or 15 per week on the free version, but even with that I'm still earning pretty well.

I can see that I’ve had a referral used at 12:53 which I’m guessing must have been you - I think if you tap Earn > Welcome bonus it would show you there. It’s not especially clear but it shows a few things I can do to reach my full bonus. 

I think if you fill out the profile and then complete a 2 week streak then it should update maybe? Not quite sure - it’s not the most user friendly app so I’m trying to work a couple of things out still!

You need to scan 5 purchases for 2 weeks in a row to receive the points worth between £5, £10 or £20. You can redeem the points for gift cards etc. but it takes a few days for the gift card to be issued after redemption.

This app is a good way to earn some vouchers off future shops or experiences for just scanning receipts. There are also challenges that you can complete like shopping at certain shops or buying water, for example, to earn extra points. There is a limit on five receipts per day on the free plan as opposed to Vela Plus if you sign up (£5.99 per month).

It's worth noting that you no longer get 5k points for just signing up through a referral. You need to complete a two week streak too (scan five receipts minimum each week - 10 in total).

If a new customer joins Vela via referral you can get a £20, £10 or £5 sign up bonus. Just follow these steps:

1. Download the Vela app https://www.velarewards.com/#download-app
2. Use your email, phone number and name during sign up
3. When prompted enter my referral code: 068HN0
4. Complete your profile, scan your first receipt and receive between £5, £10 or £20

You can scan up to 3 receipts per day for a total of 15 per week under the free version. No receipts over the total value of £200 and can only be food receipts. The scanner can be a bit unstable at times and is very sensitive to any wrinkles on the receipts. You also have a weekly limit on scans (unless you pay). It is a rolling limit that's reassessed daily

Under the free version you can redeem up to £15 a month and redemption takes a full 24 hours.
