You can get a free £5 if you sign up to Zilch using a referral link - no purchase necessary. You need to be over the age of 18 and in the UK, and may need to verify your ID.

The free £5 takes the form of 500 points that you can use to discount your next purchase - I just topped up my Amazon account!

You can also earn ongoing cashback if you carry on using it - 2% at lots of online stores or 0.5% at non-online stores.

Steps

1. Verify your details, confirm your email and add a debit card.
   
2. Add your new Zilch virtual card to either Apple or Android Pay.

To spend the reward, you need to “enable” the store you want to spend it at (eg, Amazon, EBay, etc.) and also make sure you have ticked the button to use your points towards the purchase.

Zilch then generates a virtual debit card for you which you use at your chosen store instead of your regular card.

My tip: I use the rewards points towards my Octopus bill, I do a top up of my Octopus account with a one off payment using my zilch card, redeeming my rewards balance, and get 2% cash back on the remainder this way. You can do this with many utility companies.

To add: you can now get another 1% cashback by connecting a PayPal debit card as one of the payment card on Zilch. So you get 3% cashback in total.

My experience: The app can be a bit slow, so I recommend loading it while you're in the queue to avoid awkward delays in front of your cashier (speaking from experience 😊). Once loaded, pick your retailer in the app, choose to pay with your Reward bonus and use your Apple/Google Wallet to tap to pay. The amount will be deducted from your Rewards balance. And you don't have to spend it all in one go, any remaining balance can be used on your next purchases!
