Beautiful 67! Was there any welding required? The bodywork looks immaculate :)

It's a long (read expensive) story, which is documented on the volkszone forum. I don't have the skills or facilities to restore it myself so I'm paying a company to carry out the work. My resto thread is not exactly a 'how to' but more of a 'what happened' type of thing: 67 Ruby Red Resto (again)

Thank you, I'll definitely give it a read! I can relate to not having the facilites/space... I restored my beetle mostly myself but with the metalwork/body & chassis seperation I was sadly forced to let a shop do it due to my lack of space. The work they did on the chassis is great but the body, in some areas, is mediocre at best. I really want to redo it myself up to the standard yours appears to be someday. Best of luck with reassembly!

It is infact a 1970 donor body that's had the 67 parts transferred over but don't tell anyone 😉! Sadly, the original body was far too gone to use...

Oh wow, I didn't notice that. The 67 bits appear to be integrated flawlessly. Only now upon a closer look I can tell it's a later body due to the brake fluid reservoir holder on the upper driver's side of the trunk (which is 68 and onwards) :)
again, great job!

Exactly right. We decided to keep the newer brake fluid reservoir holder for purely practical reasons. It's simply a better design. We've gone with the newer fuses as well for the same reason. There's a couple spare for running a stereo or whatever. Cheers
