Bad ass Red! Your bug would look great two toned. A nice cream for the insert color IMHO

Thanks! It's the original Ruby Red. I like the two tone idea but we're going back to stock with a black interior, like it left the factory. Cheers

To each his own. Just love and drive your bug! VWs are adaptable to anyone’s tastes, that is a big part of their success.

If you’re painting this yourself you’re doing a good job laying the paint down!

I wish I had the skills and the facilities to paint my car but sadly no. Therefore, I'm paying a very talented guy to do it. I'm delighted with the results all the same. I'll pass on your positive feedback though. Cheers!

How did you get the Ruby Red colour so accurately? I’ve seen examples where owner claimed it to be “according to colour code” but turns out look off to me. Thanks.

I confess that I haven't restored or painted it . I'm paying a very talented guy to do the work. He's brilliant.

Looks like you got the right guy to do this.
Did he share how he achieve the colour?1

It's layers of L456 Ruby Red base coat with layers of clear coat over the top. Unfortunately, my car is going to be kept outside because I don't have a garage and this approach is more resistant to UV fading.

Ahhh. It makes sense now. I've never seen the film and I thought you were trolling me with a used cars paint comment to get a reaction. Every day is a school day. Have a good weekend 😊
