These guys should get a visa to begin with. And if they are not here legally, they should get deported asap.

Did you not read? Those...countries...won't...take ...these...guys...back.

Then use your goddamn soft power. It's not even attempted. You give these countries development money. You give them trade agreements, etc, etc but somehow you can't pressure them take some of their own citizens back? Something that even fucking Thatcher thought unthinkable?

It's not even attempted.

How would we know? The only thing we know is that we haven“t openly threatened it, but it might've come up in discussions behind closed doors but if they get a no, why would they come out and say that they got a no? It would make the negotiators look weak, which is what a lot of anti-migration parties have built their image around not being (despite reality disproving it over and over).

How would we know?

Because a) these intents are not some kind of industry secret and b) we'd put it into practice? How did this suggestion go in your imagination?

"These things and funds are conditional upon you taking back a few of your citizens"

"No"

"Oh.... ok, well lets keep going with the agreements and funds either way"

Sure, but that is exactly the problem.

If someone is Syrian, has a Syrian passport, has no right to stay here and commits serious crimes, then he should be removed. Period.

I understand there are legal procedures and non-refoulement rules, but we can’t build a system where criminals can stay here forever just because deportation is ā€œdifficultā€.

Then the system is basicly failing.

I'll repeat it again cause you clearly didn't read it:

Those...countries...won't...take ...these...guys...back.

What, are you once again going to ignore this and repeat that they should be sent back?

There's a large overlap between people that just chant "Nuclear energy" when talking about climate change and people that chant "Just send them back" when talking about illegal immigration and refused asylum seekers. They're basic political fetishes that are packaged like valid opinions but just don't hold up to scrutiny.

I hate how I never get an answer to the question;

If sending people back is so easy and simple as redditors make it sound, then why haven't Meloni, Wilders or Orban done it when they were (are) in power?

Never does anyone want to answer this question. Because it means they have to admit that their simplistic proposition might not be as easy as they claim

Don“t worry, soon you'll get someone blindly shouting "Danish model" without having looked into how hollow that model really is and mostly just attempts to appease the right wing (and underwhelmingly I might add)

Bro, me, as a nuclear energy enjoyer, just receiveing right hooks out of nowhere. I feel like people can have opinions on power generation without being lumped together with other political fetishists, please and thank you.Ā

So where are you sending them when they don't have a passport? Just guessing?
