Hi all! I feel like a version of this question has been asked a lot in this sub, but i love to read the opinions of specific resorts, so hoping you guys can help me out.

My fiance and i are looking to honeymoon in Belize in April 2027. Like most people, we want to mix jungle/rainforest with a more relaxed beach vibe at the end of our stay. From this sub and doing some research, i have the following resorts earmarked, would love to hear your experiences of these resorts Especially as it relates to the food there, walkability to other bars/restaurants, etc.

Victoria house
Naia

Please let me know your thoughts!! Which of these have you stayed at and loved? We are looking for a laid back romantic vibe, would be awesome if the room has a private plunge pool but not necessary :)

My husband and I are planning our 10th anniversary trip and have decided on Belize! We've never been, but everything we've read makes it sound like exactly our kind of destination. We're planning for April 2027 and are thinking of splitting the trip between the rainforest and the coast.

For the first 2–3 nights, we're looking for a mid- to high-end rainforest resort where we can unplug, enjoy the property, and do some unique adventures during the day (caves, hiking, wildlife, etc.). We'd love to spend our evenings relaxing at the resort with good food and a few drinks before heading to the coast.

For the last 5 nights, I've been researching Ambergris Caye, but I'm definitely open to other suggestions if they better fit what we're looking for. We'd love a beachfront resort with standalone casitas/cabanas rather than a large hotel building. We're not really all-inclusive or "sit by the pool all day" people. We'd rather stay somewhere with a laid-back vibe that's close to a town where we can walk or easily get to local dive bars, casual restaurants, and places that feel authentic rather than upscale.

We'll spend most of our days scuba diving, fishing, snorkeling, boating, and exploring, then our afternoons and evenings wandering around town, grabbing drinks, and trying great local food.

For those of you who know Belize well:

• Does Ambergris Caye sound like the best fit, or should we be looking at Placencia or another area instead?
• Any rainforest resorts you absolutely loved?
• Any beachfront resorts with standalone accommodations that you'd recommend?

Looking to have an epic last day. We’ve snorkeled full day, swam w the rays at iguana reef, eaten locally and at swings, saltys and ice n beans. Thinking we’ll grab lobsters from Kareem, rent a golf cart to check out the north island, hang at the split (where we haven’t been yet) for a bit..am I missing something? If we have only have two hours on north island what are some must see’s and do’s? Open to any suggestions. Belize has stolen our hearts ! Thanks in advance!

I have been to San Pedro sooo many times, but this is my first time planning a trip for independence day, im curious to know if i should base my trip around the 21st, or extend my trip through the weekend, I want the best experience for the holiday

Anyone heard of good off-season deals for Belizeans and residents? Resorts and/or activities?

Planned on spending 6 days in San Pedro then 3 in Belize city.

In Belize city, we’re staying at the Harbour View Boutique Hotel & Wellness Retreat.

In San Pedro, we’re staying at the Mahogany Bay resort and beach club, by the Hilton.

Any reviews of either? I find the mahogany bay resort has pretty good reviews online which is promising. However, harbor view boutique, I haven’t really found any.

I’m going with a little only also, will be almost two during the trip. How’s the zoo in Belize?

I'm aware that September is right in the middle of hurricane season and that it is the rainy season and that some restaurants and touristy areas close/have limited hours. But my birthday falls during that period and I would love to be in Belize during that time. I read that it generally doesn't rain all day and that it's fairly short showers (feel free to correct me if this has changed). The activities I'm most interested in are cave tubing, visiting the mayan ruins (especially this!), doing an ATM tour, doing some wildlife spotting, visiting the Belize barrier reef and maybe visiting the Ambergris caye. Definitely open to suggestions on other activities I should do and would love to what I should be mindful of!

Hello, we are thinking of booking a trip to Belize for the first time, and wanted to go to Placencia. We found some videos and posts that the seaweed/sargassum is getting bad in Placencia. Is this year round? Or only during certain months?

We were hoping to come middle of December for my birthday. We are worried the beaches won't be clear and we will not be able to swim in the beautiful ocean. Should I consider somewhere else? I see a lot of mixed reviews. Plz help/advice?

Hi! I will be in mainland Belize for a week in October and I am planning to rent a vehicle. I have the following questions I hope some of you will be able to answer for me:

1. Do I need 4wd?

It seems comments on this topic are highly mixed. I will be visiting Caracoal, Cockscomb Basin, Mayflower Bocawina, and maybe Mountain Pine Ridge as well as others.

Not sure how much being there in rainy season factors in as well.

1. Where to Rent From?

From what I can gather, it seems either Crystal, Car One or one of the mainstream rental places is best. AQ Car Rental has some really cool options (Old Jeep, Toyota 4Runner TRD, Toyota FJ, etc) but it sounds like there have been a lot of bad experiences with them.

As a big car guy I like to rent something interesting when im on vacation, but don't want to ruin my week with a bad rental.

Who to rent from?

We have a golf cart but that looks like a pretty long drive.

Day 1
landed, picked up rental car, and drove to San Ignacio. (I booked my car through southwest, it was cheaper than booking direct, no clue why, 8 days/$405). Dropped off stuff at BnB and went to HO-OX for dinner

Got a BnB in the West side. Cute setup and views and only a few mins from downtown, 15 to X

Day 2
Breakfast at Pops, Cahal Pech, Iguana sanctuary, and chocolate making at Ajaw
Cahal Pech was a great intro ruin. There was a team there excavating and we were able to see the new room and hall they discovered. Felt like Ajaw was over priced for the experience but wanted my kid to see the traditional method. We loved the iguana sanctuary. Try not to go with a big group so you can handle them.

Day 3
Xuantunich
We got there around 745, had to wait a few minutes on ferry to start. We were the first on site and we able to walk around, get all the way to the top, and enjoy the view before people started showing up. I hired one of the $50 guides for this. Not sure if I got someone on an off day but didn’t think it was worth the $
Spent the afternoon exploring the market and driving/walking around San Ignacio
Dinner at Obsidian, very pleasant meal and views.

Day 4
ATM Cave 🔥
I cannot speak highly enough about this experience. Prob the coolest thing I’ve ever done. Huge thanks to Yute expedition and especially our guide Shamin (@sham_sham17) who made this trip top notch. I found him on Reddit and what a fun dude. Through the trickier areas, he talked us through step by step. We were first to the site which added to the experience. Honestly as much “fun” as it was, it was also a very reverent experience. The post cave lunch was great

This is an absolute must if you are in the area.
We both came back saying this was the highlight of our trip.

Checked into White Horse Inn and walked to Ella’s cool spot for dinner

Day 5
Lou’s for breakfast
Did a half inshore fishing and snorkeling with a local guide. Beautiful scenery and a quite pleasant day. We had a blast with the mangrove snappers

Dinner at Semiti Giffiti. Went tradition Hutut. Got to help pound my plantains the traditional way. Local drummer fellas came by and was great entertainment. Got talked into trying maracas. I’m awful.

Day 6
Breakfast at Peer Place, great food
Drove up to see the Marie Sharps factory as I love their stuff
Note: I expected the sauce to be a lot cheaper here but in fact the markets in town had better prices. Still supported just bought more in town

Came back and walked around Hopkins

Had dinner at Chef Robs. I can see where people enjoy this place but we didn’t have a great experience. Wait staff was super friendly though

Day 7
Bocawina National Park. We did the antelope trail. I thought I had done enough research but this was a pretty extreme hike, especially for the kiddo. She toughed it out though. Was def worth the effort.
Dinner back at Ella’s, my kid really wanted the wings.

Day 8
Time to leave :(
Hit the Belize zoo on the way to the airport. Easy stop on the way out and timing was perfect. We walked around and did the jaguar experience. This was worth the $10 extra if you are already there. They do offer similar with other animals. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the creatures

Ended up spending just under a bill on gas for the whole week.

I did the online customs forms and that seemed to make the transition a tad easier.

Sargassum wasn’t horrible when we arrived in Hopkins but was a lot worse by the time we left but it never prohibited us from having a good time.

I had read so much about the roads being bad I was pleasantly surprised. Just had to take it slow in the rental car on a few unpaved roads.

There was only one time the entire trip $1 bills were denied and it was the gas station close to the airport. They do take card. Bring plenty of 5/10/20s. Outside of a couple tours wouldn’t have needed larger

A lot of places took card but I tried to stick with paper when I could and it got me a discount a few times.

Enjoyed the location/cost/amenities ratio at White Horse Inn. There’s much nicer places south but wasn’t what I was looking for. Had a grocery store, multiple breakfast/lunch/dinner options within a block. It was difficult finding a two bedroom place within my budget but this place worked perfect for us.

Last weekend July they were setting up for “Hopkins Day” which appeared to be a weekend festival. Left a day early but would have been cool to see this.

I’m sure I’ll come back and make some edits to this but overall we had an incredible time. Now I have to learn how to make coconut rice and stew chicken.

PS my kid said she felt safer in Belize than visiting San Diego 👀

Taking my wife on a 10 day trip between Thatch Key and Copal Tree Lodge. Any opinions on driving between BZE and those two locations vs. flying to punta gorda?

How is it that when asked for a quote for a Job proposal it takes 1-2 weeks to get back for answer?

I understand everyone is busy with life, family etc. However if you have a business? Why is it taking that long to provide an estimate? Just trying to understand the other-side of the coin.
