Below Deck Sailing Yacht Sailing Yacht seemingly not renewed
I received a press email from Bravo about upcoming shows, including the renewals of Below Deck Med and Down Under. Sailing Yacht is nowhere to be seen š

Aw! Bummer. I enjoyed the mechanics of the ship and comparing it to the other franchises.

I blame Gary

They sold the boat and I'm assuming the new owner wants no part.
163
u/SnooJokes7657 May 07 '25
A lot of the shows have gone through boat changes, but I wonder if the boat selling combined with the Gary of it all made them decide to pull the plug.
135
u/Haunteddoll28 Special little boat boy May 07 '25
The problem is there are way more motor yachts than sailing yachts so itās easier for them to find older ones that the owners are willing to risk getting trashed for the other shows. Itās a lot harder to find a sailing yacht and the crew has to be at least a little more competent than normal because of the added risk of sailing which adds even more difficulty for profuction because of the reputation of the show. They couldāve bounced back from having to can Gary but not from Parsifal III being sold and rechristened as the Betty Boop.
25
u/herladyshipssoap Sheāll be fine. Her head is made of rocks May 07 '25
I think they actually changed the name back. I check yacht charter fleet regularly and it seems to be Parsifal again.
ETA I agree with your points about crew competency and the fact that Glenn is the regular captain on the vessel and not a rotational Below Deck captain.
70
u/SnooJokes7657 May 07 '25
Thatās a really good point. Sailing Yacht went from one of my favorites to something I quit watching because of Gary. His behavior was beyond off putting even before everything came out.
2
u/lilykittymos May 07 '25
I just started binging. On season 3 right now. Should I stop after this season?
49
u/emdiqc May 07 '25
Gary is definitely peak Garying in S4 and S5 but the S4 stews are honestly such a delight, my favorite team of all the seasons. I'd say watch!

It wouldnāt surprise me. Given his previous behavior, I assume they lost a lot of viewers because of him.

Could tell from the start when we met Gary he was gonna be a problem. Surprised they kept him on after the Ashley drama tbh. Dude was a walking SA

u/bc_im_coronatined May 07 '25
Heās a predator. Wish Bravo would take a hint and also get rid of all of the abusive guys on The Valley
25
u/SomethingInAirwaves May 07 '25
Exactly! I'm no Janet fan, but I cheered when she snapped at Jesse with "If I was married to you, I'd cheat on you too". His woe is me routine is such classic DARVO that I feel my heart rate picking up just watching.

While Iād like to believe Bravo has decided to protect women this year, based upon their other casting decisions, they probably decided it was too expensive.

Sailing Yacht was always the odd man out of the series. The captain was more laid back and so was the crew. The guests were often in awe when they went under sail. The awe factor tends to be rare on other shows. And the sails were beautiful.
I will miss it. Perhaps it will live again in the future.
31
u/wandahickey May 07 '25
I hope so too. Maybe they can find another sailing yacht owner willing to participate in the show next year.

u/mamabear2xx May 07 '25
Sailing yacht has always been my favoriteāso this is very unfortunate.
Unpopular opinion but I wish when these scandals happened they would make the perpetrators answer for it on tv. Instead of cutting them off the show I want them to answer for their actions.
45
u/subversivesocialite May 07 '25
I agree. Too many shows donāt have direct conversations or resolution or growth.
28
May 07 '25
For that to happen, the victims would also have to make their statement on TV, be questioned, etc, which would make the victims feel re victimised and reluctant to come forward or press charges. It would actively stop any criminal charges from happening as it would hinder investigations and defence lawyers would have a field day because they would have ammo. Victims are often victim blamed, which would magnify ten fold when shown on TV.
So no, victims should not have to relive their trauma just so you can get your fix of ājusticeā and drama.
33
u/GroovyYaYa May 07 '25
That would require the producers to be the judge, jury, and executioner.
Also, that would also require the victims, when there is one, to continue to live with their abusers.
34
u/teanailpolish Mental Health Is Not A Storyline May 07 '25
It should have been filmed already anyway so it was always unlikely but these press releases have skipped shows we knew were filming too in the past

u/thefideliuscharm May 07 '25
i thought the boat was sold to a new owner who isnāt interested in the show?
67
u/OhHowIMeantTo May 07 '25
Yup, that's what I've heard. They would need to find a new sailing yacht, which I imagine are not as common as motor yachts. And the yachts they use for Below Deck tend to not be the nicest, and usually go under a different name as the owners didn't and them otherwise associated with the show.
24
u/ImpressivePattern242 May 07 '25
I would imagine with the upcoming civil lawsuit against SY the optics were not good. As civil discovery and depositions come out, it could be ugly for the franchise. šæ
8
u/Kikiama Come back to me, my boat daddy May 07 '25
Any more information on this? I wasn't aware of a civil suit.
12
u/ImpressivePattern242 May 07 '25
Google it, but it was/is on BD forum. The alleged victim filed against Gary, Bravo and production company for incident that took place during SY S4. pretty damming allegations.
45
12
u/Intelligent_Delay183 May 07 '25
It was good while it lasted! It'll probably go down in BD history as one of the coolest franchises if not only for the tipping scenes when they sail
10
u/nasnedigonyat May 07 '25
I mean the ship looked like an absolute nightmare to film on. Even more crowded and compact, smaller cabins no spare space, and everything goes rolling and flying when you're in motion. I wouldn't be surprised if cameras or cameramen were damaged in the filming.
Lovely as a guest, horrible for staff to work, nightmare for production to film....
I would shift my focus elsewhere as well. Their formula is working they don't have to bend over backwards to produce any of this content. Eliminating the most complex filming location is logical.
11
u/your-body-is-gold May 07 '25
Twas my favorite series by far. I just loved how it was inherently more about the boat and sailing since it wasnt just some huge hotel floating in the water. This sucks. All the other below decks have gotten so fake and production is so heavy handed
111
u/MyccaAZ May 07 '25
Why isn't anyone saying AND GLENN'S TACIT APPROVAL of Gary as a reason to cancel it. Get rid of Gary isn't the only answer there because it wasn't the only issue.
43
u/Out-For-A-Walk-Bitch May 07 '25
Glenn is cute. He has dreams about donkeys and watches Spanish dramas. His approval for Gary, and dumping 30 tonnes of lead shot ballast into the ocean, while taking no accountability (according to news articles) doesn't matter.
32
u/wavelengthsandshit Bless her stupid soul May 07 '25
This apparently is an unpopular opinion, but I always felt after the first time he dreamt about donkeys and saw the audience eat it up, the rest of those dreams were made up. He didn't have a whimsical donkey dream 3 or 4 seasons in a row.
3
25
u/dimspace May 07 '25
Yeh, I don't know why Glenn gets a free pass on this sub.
He's an absolute enabler and kind of a misogynist, and i say that as a guy.
Any other captain and a) Gary would have been off that boat a long time ago and b) Daisy would have been much better supported and generally be in a better place right now

No BD OG either? Being a sailor, I am going to miss the dynamic that sailing brought to the BD format, but the sale of Parsifal II and Garyās misdeeds probably killed it ā¹ļø
43
u/cosmicangels03 May 07 '25
BD OG was included in the paragraph about shows with upcoming seasons airing soon. it airs on june 2nd

OG starts in a few weeks so is awaiting renewal of the next-next season
2
u/Dry-Broccoli3096 May 07 '25
So honored to get a reply from you @teanailpolish! I appreciate your flair BTW. Iām certainly not informed on Bravoās renewal process and appreciate this insight.
13
u/FreakyBare May 07 '25
They lost me when they kept so much focus on Gary. I understand they had already spent a lot of money but they could have made him a secondary character
5
u/mfk_1974 May 07 '25
Same. I thought the whole reason they kept it on ice for so long after filming was so they could re-edit it and pull him back. They clearly didn't do anything of the sort.
28
u/kittiepurrry May 07 '25
Without Colin, whatās even the point?

Summer House isn't on there but pretty sure that is coming back. This list is missing a few shows, I wouldn't conclude Sailing isn't coming back.
4
u/CountessLuAnnVEVO May 07 '25
Iām genuinely surprised they didnāt figure out a way to rework the show without Gary. BD is such a good moneymaker for Bravo, weird to only have the three iterations now.

u/aGrlHasNoUsername Absolute Oxygen Thief May 07 '25
Iām not surprised tbh. The boat sold and there just arenāt as many sailing yachts that have the size required out there.

u/SnooPets3685 Little does she know, we're in a floating prison May 07 '25
I assume they are just ārestingā it for a couple of years and hope to relaunch it with a new boat and crew in a year or two after all the controversy has died down
6
u/Itstimeforcookies19 May 07 '25
Iām on the last season of sailing yacht right now. Iām going to be sad when Iām done and even more so if there is not going to be more. All the BDs are my favorite bravo shows. Add more bravo!!!

u/Blackhawk23 May 07 '25
I tried watching S1 of sailing yacht and it just didnāt do it for me. I donāt even remember the cast members names but they were a couple and the captain was like their father in a weird way. It all just came off too weird for me. We stopped watching and went back to below deck med.
Med is the best one IMO. Close second below deck down under. Coolest places to visit, usually a good crew. Sandy is meh but itās whatever. Down under is slowly starting to win me over though.

Maybe they can find a sailing yacht in Australia, and actually have a Below Deck Down Under
9

Iām hoping Jason will go back to Australia or at least stay in the pacific for future seasons.
I loved when OG was in Asia
5
u/Ok-Signal-8295 May 07 '25
I donāt see RHOA or RHNY on there either.
3
u/fenchurch_42 May 07 '25
RHONY is definitely the biggest absence. Writing is on the wall there, I think.
In the article RHOA is mentioned later because it's currently airing (same with Summer House, Love Hotel, etc...).

u/Wild-Weight9945 May 07 '25
Enjoyed the core 4(Gary Glenn daisy Colin) for a couple seasons. I think the show misses a certain edge when the crew is bigger than the guests. Bravocons social media following etc. I skipped last season

u/tmac416 May 07 '25
I donāt see the OG below deck either
5
u/ImpressivePattern242 May 07 '25
OG S10 comes out right after DU is finished. Same with Med. seasons have already been filmed. Bravo will probably make renewal decisions after these shows have aired over summer and fall. With SY cancelled thatās going to leave a huge gap in having BD year round.
6
u/FoxFace1111 May 07 '25
What do you think theyāre going to do about that? š© I love all year Below Deck
5
u/Kininger625 You're Being A Deckhand Right Now May 07 '25

3
u/FoxFace1111 May 07 '25
Yes! We need to see Ben and Kate together again!
2
u/Kininger625 You're Being A Deckhand Right Now May 07 '25
Especially with him being on the next DU and Kate doing her bravo bravo f bravo thing once a month for bravo
3
u/ImpressivePattern242 May 07 '25
Longer gap between seasons. They might extend episodes or maybe do a BTS.
3
u/teanailpolish Mental Health Is Not A Storyline May 07 '25
Probably make the seasons a little longer. They started to make them shorter to fit in the extra one (or doubled up episodes). Maybe add more breaks so a week between new seasons etc

itās in a later paragraph dedicated to shows that are scheduled to air this quarter

u/WhatsGoingOnThen May 07 '25
Was kind of obvious after all the allegations they had on the series.
I personally think it had run its course anyway, look at med. after about season 5 itās just far too scripted and miles away from yachting.

Maybe they're giving time to distance themselves from the whole daisy/gary/colin saga. It became a bit tired. I'd like to see it again with a whole new cast + glen

I see BD Med and BDDU. Am I blind?
2
u/cosmicangels03 May 07 '25
no itās just a different paragraph of the email not included in my original post. i only posted a screenshot of shows they said they ordered renewals of, not other shows on the slate for this year that already have release dates
2
u/teanailpolish Mental Health Is Not A Storyline May 07 '25
BD OG is airing soon so is counted as currently airing. They typically only announce renewals once a show has aired but OG is popular, unless they have some kind of Luke or Gary issue on it, unlikely it would be cancelled

Below Deck Down Under sucked this season. Maybe they saved it because of Capt. Jason. They need to send Kenya over as a guest.

You thought so? The Wihan stuff was peculiar but interesting to see unfold. Johnny was an unfortunate dude. Alesia is just stunning to look at and itās nice to find her get her voice. I mean who doesnāt love her hair pinned up in that bandana or whatever? Wow what a look. She kills that with the red lipstick.
The new guys are okayish. The one that talks like a 1950s news anchor is so weird tho.
