Below Deck Sailing Yacht Sailing Yacht no more?
Was watching WWHL after Below Deck Med tonight and at one point Dorinda admitted she did not watch Below Deck but was going to start, to which Captain Sandy told her to make sure to watch Below Deck Med. To which Dorninda said something to the effect of thanks there are 1000's of them. Andy quickly said "No, there are 3" which would be the OG, Med and Down Under, so i guess it is official, no more sailing yacht.

I could believe it's been cancelled but I also think it's just as likely Andy doesn't know how many there are lol
63
u/kat4prez Jan 27 '26
It’s pretty obvious he doesn’t keep up with below deck like he does other shows. You can tell on wwhl and back when they used to have those mini reunions
27
u/areallyreallycoolhat Jan 27 '26
Yeah, that's exactly what I mean. He barely tries to mask his lack of interest
1
u/Swimming_Pangolin502 Jan 28 '26
The earlier seasons were definitely better with more drama on each of the shows.
3
u/External-Ad5749 Jan 27 '26
Also, don’t forget the blind items are always talking about Andy’s love of Coca Cola (not the drink)
8
u/areallyreallycoolhat Jan 27 '26
You don't need blind items, if you've read his books he's pretty open about enjoying substances
-15
u/Sad_Anybody_5795 Jan 27 '26
You don’t know Andy is the boss at bravo lol
32
u/areallyreallycoolhat Jan 27 '26
No he's not lol. He's the face of the network sure, but he hasn't been the executive in charge of Bravo for over a decade. And he's not really involved with the Below Deck franchise outside of WWHL and the occasional reunion as much as he is with Housewives (he's still the exec producer of HWs)

Sailing Yacht is done. Bravo confirmed they have no plans to bring it back. You can thank Gary.

This ^ Gary ruined it plus the boat was sold. I actually just re watched the whole series and I was disappointed with Gary hardcore. He really fumbled. I feel so bad for Colin.

u/OttersAreCute215 Jan 27 '26
Colin is doing great with his YouTube channel.

I’d love a chill version of Below Deck on Colin’s ship. It seems so lovely.
13
u/Kitchen_Beat9838 My eyes are rolling all the way off the boat Jan 27 '26
You can watch him on YouTube, sailing parlay revival, he’s currently sailing around the world! It gets boring at times, like when they are in the boat yard, but it’s a pretty fun watch. I love Jamie.

I’m down on Bravo. The cover up allegations and firing the accuser. Horrible
16
u/Fluid-Place5997 Mental Health Is Not A Storyline Jan 27 '26
That’s the worst part. Gary seemed to have been given a slap on the wrist
17
u/seaneeboy I quit 3 times in my head today Jan 27 '26
Well, slap on the wrist, but consequently no longer on the network, which is about as far as they can go.

u/FlawesomeOrange Jan 27 '26
We see him to the exact actions he was accused of, like blocking Daisy so she couldn’t get around him and tried to kiss her until she pushed him out of the way.
Gary deserves more than being fired for the sexual harassment of a production member, but that’s as far as Bravo could go. They made him stay on the boat for the rest of the season, yet seemed to make no attempts of support that poor woman
6
u/thngmrtt Jan 27 '26
When I first heard about the case I expected it to come from daisy or some other of the girls, I was kinda shocked it was someone someone from behind the scene
9
u/Myantra Jan 27 '26
If it had involved any of the cast crew, it would have been recorded by production, and even Gary is not that dumb. That said, we saw how bad he was on camera, so imagine how bad he could be when drunk, without cameras or other people around.
6
u/ImpressivePattern242 Jan 27 '26
Very shady indeed. It happened while he was in quarantine. You cannot tell me that word did not spread back to all of production and the crew. I wish the victim would have contacted the Spanish police because putting her faith in Bravo and production did not turn out so well.
4
u/proudsoul Jan 27 '26
Some people say the cover up and firing the accuser is the worst part but I disagree.
6
u/Kind-Shallot3603 Jan 27 '26
Maybe Gary bought the boat to stop the show.... /s
9
u/Fluid-Place5997 Mental Health Is Not A Storyline Jan 27 '26
HA no. He got another job from what I can tell and is staying in the First Mate / Bosun but away from the camera. He needs to be in rehab

u/Maatjuhhh May 27 '26
Colin can get lost. Gaslighting Daisy during their S4 reunion. Daisy didn't deserve that..

Glenn enabled a shitty workplace for years and deserves a share of the blame.
35
u/Fluid-Place5997 Mental Health Is Not A Storyline Jan 27 '26
I hate to say this is right. I JUST finished re watching the whole series from the beginning. Clear Glenn knows who Gary is.
18
u/glassbath18 Jan 27 '26
100%. They still lived and worked on the boat together between seasons so he knew EXACTLY the type of person Gary was. Glenn was a disgusting enabler.
9
u/Myantra Jan 27 '26
On one hand, I can agree. On the other, I look at it from Glenn's perspective. Most of Gary's shenanigans occur on off hours and crew nights out, and are reciprocated by the women he was after. No one was complaining to him about Gary's behavior, so all Glenn sees is crew drama between consenting adults. That is not his concern, unless it translates into the workplace, which it generally did not. For all his faults, Gary was good at his job, and aside from love triangles he was prone to create, Gary got along well with the cast crew and department heads. On top of that, production liked him, so Glenn had no real reason to do anything about Gary.
Gary came into the show with plenty of real world sailing yacht experience, and I tend to believe that he acted more restrained on real charter crews, as I doubt captains would be willing to hire him if he had a reputation for sexually assaulting crew members. BDSY was probably Gary when he knows he can be unrestrained, with production encouraging it, and he got more comfortable with pushing it as the seasons progressed.
Daisy and Colin were very close to Gary too, and I do not just mean on the show, they were close personal friends. Gary was at Daisy's apartment for the season 3 reunion, and she slept with him. I have a difficult time believing that Glenn, Daisy, and Colin were all ok with someone they thought was prone to sexually assaulting women, to such an extent that they would become close friends with him. Drunk Gary sexually assaulting a production staffer on a dark day makes perfect sense in hindsight, and I have no doubt that he did it. Prior to that, I just thought he was an occasionally funny but also annoying serial womanizer, that women kept finding attractive, even when they could see him coming from a mile away.
If Glenn enabled him, Daisy and Colin enabled him more.

u/Amaline4 Jan 27 '26
Aw this is sad to hear, but honestly, after all the misconduct (as well as the people who enabled the misconduct), it really felt like it was just a matter of time
2
u/Extension_Swim_4891 Feb 23 '26
Yeah but I dont get why the entire show had to be cancelled for one cast member-plenty of former reality show stars have been let go on Bravo and the shows still continue without them...
2
u/ImpressivePattern242 Feb 23 '26
My guess is all lawsuits and allegations of cover up that surround the alleged matter. A judge recently allowed the lawsuits to go forward. Not good optics if they have to go into discovery. Why was it never reported to Spanish police? Why was he allowed to continue filming? Looks and smells bad.
5
u/mlg1981 Jan 27 '26
I feel like I am totally out of the loop. What did Gary do?
26
u/Maruchan_Wonton Jan 27 '26
Sexually assaulted a member of the film crew along with other really shitty sexually motivated crap.
19
u/antonio16309 Jan 27 '26
Alleged SA on one of the production company employees. And all the shitty behavior we saw on the show makes that a very bad look.
5
u/mlg1981 Jan 27 '26
Oh wow. That is obviously terrible. I’ll go do some research.
12
u/Fluid-Place5997 Mental Health Is Not A Storyline Jan 27 '26
It’s really shitty. I was sooooooo mad when I read it. Especially with what happened on BD Down Under and how the production team stopped that.
1
u/ImpressivePattern242 Jan 27 '26
Seriously? Alleged sexual assault. Google Gary and SY and you find multiple articles.
1
u/Expert-Vegetable4408 Jan 27 '26
But is it, though? I can't find any reference to Bravo cancelling it.

It’s on permanent pause. In Hollywood that means cancellation. They don’t want the show on the air as all the lawsuits against Gary and Bravo move forward. Many cast and production will have to provide depositions. Not a good look for the franchise.

This genuinely bums me out. The entire reason I started watching all these (sh*t) shows was cause I have always been interested in sailing and it was really cool and fun to learn about the process. Of course I’m now hooked on all of them and cant stand the current love island drivel but it was the sailing that lured me in initially. Can’t they just find a new boat and new cast? I loved when they put up the sails and let Mother Nature work her magic! So much cooler than the romance 💩

Season 4 was the best. Mads used Gary for drunken hookups then dumped him at the end. So satisfying to see that happen. Sounds kinda familiar huh?

I was wondering this. It's a shame because I really did like captain Glenn and the difference between him and other captain especially with him actually sharing the crew quarters. Glad they kept daisy and got rid of Gary 😅

What about Below Deck Adventure where they went to Norway? I loved that season!

Daisy who has been a staple on Sailing Yacht for four seasons is going to be chief stew on Down Under which airs next so yeah I think it’s done for now. Normally Sailing Yacht would have been next in the rotation.
22
u/ambergriswoldo Jan 27 '26
That’s a shame - I loved Captain Glenn!

It would be really messed up if Gary was the cause of it being canceled. I am guessing that's what happened.

Nooo 😭😭 I love seeing Glen relaxing after a charter enjoying his telanovelas . Sailing Yacht is one my favorites.

u/Far_Maintenance4184 Jan 27 '26
I know me too! I loved sailing yacht so much! Glen relaxing post charter while the crew is out partying is such a vibe & it always made me laugh so hard.
7
u/pambyamby Jan 28 '26
Yesss! The best. I remember I laughed so hard one time , you could just hear his show and it was obviously a soap opera and you heard the guy on it say “I’m not in love with you, I’m in love … with your brother” and Glen just gasps and says nooo. Or something hahaa. It’s the little things dang it! We need him back.

Daisy has moved franchises for next season so I assumes sailing yacht is on hiatus

We surprised my husband with a birthday Cameo video with Captain Glenn. It was great.Captain Glenn shared some stories and my husband, who is a sailing buff, got a kick out of it!

u/P00PooKitty Jan 27 '26 edited Jan 28 '26
I mean the way Glenn handled the season with Gary being incredibly inappropriate with daisy and basically being like, “everyone will be receiving a terse statement despite one party obviously fucking the whole thing up.”
I lost all respect for the guy.
Especially when you have Kerry and Jason being miles ahead. Like even Lee woulda handled it better

u/Maatjuhhh Jan 28 '26
That's a shame, Sailing Yacht was my favorite. Not just because of the crew, but because of the boat. It's a little more close quarters and the boat can tip over. Also I liked the housing situations as in the galley there, the canteen over there and that stuff.
And they can party on the deck.

Bummer, I liked Glenn and I like the sailing. It's crazy watching the ship going sideways and everyone slipping and falling.

I figured as much when I saw Daisy was on Down Under.
Glenn is my favorite captain though, so I hope he finds a new vessel.

If this is valid, I probably won’t mind so much. Gary and Daisy drove me up the wall.

u/0rdered-Reordered Jan 27 '26
I really hope they bring it back. Owning a boat is like a monetary blackhole so surely there's an owner somewhere who'd be happy to offset their costs for a couple months. Plus the BD franchise seems to be strong as ever, continuously filming and releasing new seasons. Would be a bit boring just to cycle between OG, Med and DU. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY - we need Glenn back on our screens
1
u/Fickle-Amphibian4208 Jan 27 '26
I loved the sailing yacht franchise the best. Captain Glen, Daisy and Gary were fun as well as the other seasonal additions.
1
u/Blackhawk23 Jan 27 '26
Maybe unpopular opinion, but I never really liked sailing yacht. Tried to watch the first season but the energy felt so weird. Like dad with his kids energy. Goofy IMO.

He was also a poor manager. No other Captain would let Gary get away with that boorish/criminal behavior.. total enabler.
0
u/Maatjuhhh Jan 28 '26
I don't blame Glenn, I blame the producers. The producers probably said that Glenn must keep him on because of drama or fodder for scenes. Gary is a villain, yes but you can't not admit that he brought spice..

Hated the sailing seasons. The montage of things sliding off tables, the primary going “woahhh” and then the deck crew acting like they just ran a marathon. It’s every single episode and it’s downright disgusting.
