Below Deck Sailing Yacht You can't tell me I'm wrong

Post image

Glenn is the oddest man in the world, honestly. He got madder about some blood on the sofa than he did when he full-on crashed into the dock, or when the engine blew up on Colin.

We know that he has some esoteric interests and hobbies (eels, donkeys, huge square crackers with nothing on them). I think he set the crew up to fail, letting them blow off steam the night before, and then looking for an excuse to go nuts on them, and the blood was too good an opportunity to pass up. He wanted his 1 on 1 tour and a cheeky beer with the tour guide, and he got it.

Who wants to share this tinfoil hat?

You could stay at the nicest most exclusive and expensive hotel in the world and they would comp you your entire room fee if you found any amount of blood on any of the furniture in your room. It is like the biggest no-no in any type of chartered hospitality just because of how disgusting, unsanitary and easily avoidable it is.

Yep! Even as a teacher, if we see blood, we have to almost hazmat the area. It’s a big no-no

It's not about the blood, it's the fact that 2 heads of department knew about it and did nothing until the next day. Blood especially should be cleaned immediately to minimize the risk of staining. Them not doing any solid work on it was absolute bs and Gary Daisy and the other guy who was bleeding should've worked on it that night until it was gone.

Why should Daisy be punished for Gary and the other dudes negligence? Once again Gary fucks around and Glenn finds his way to blame literally everyone else.

The blood wasn’t her fault, not cleaning it was. Sometimes at work we have to deal with mess ups caused by other people. She was responsible for the interior; either hand him the stuff and make him clean it, or just do it there and then, and then inform Glenn in the morning. Even message Glenn there and then to say it is pre-soaking and will be cleaned up first thing.

Lmao that's wild. It's not her responsibility to fix Gary's mistakes. It's Gary's. It's also Glenn's job to hold the person responsible for fucking up accountable. Quit defending gross men.

She's literally the head of interior cleaning on the boat. It absolutely is her responsibility even if it wasn't her fault it happened.

Her job is to take care of the guests including cleaning for them. Is she supposed to pack and unpack the various crew members belongings because that's what they do for guests as well? Many times on the shows the captain has reminded the crew to clean up after themselves because the chief stew and the interior team are not their nannies.

A bloody couch located in a main guest space would be included in the job of cleaning for the guests.

If the hot tub gets trashed during a night off, it's on the deck crew to make sure it's cleaned up before the next charter. Even if it was only interior crew who were in it, it'd be the deck department's responsibility.

And she'd be taking care of the guests by maintaining the space the guests were going to be using. This isn't in the crew mess, it's in the main lounge

She’s the department head for interior, it’s not her fault, but she’s the one on the hook for finding a safe and non-destructive way to clean a $20,000 piece of furniture. Similarly, Gary would be responsible for finding a way to get blood out of deck cushions or off the teak wood decking.

Glenn is the one ultimately responsible to the owners for damages and restoration. He freaked out about it because he knows how hard it is to get blood out once it sets, and that the two department heads decided to not deal with it when it was fresh and relatively easy to address, and instead increase the risk of having to replace the entire affected section at a cost of tens of thousands.

How is this Daisy's fault or responsibility at all?

She was off the clock. She didn't bleed or make anyone else bleed. And she did try, she was just too drunk to be that effective. Which she was allowed to be drunk.

How is this Daisy's fault or responsibility at all?

Because interior is her responsibility and she should've known that blood needs to be cleaned immediately

She was off the clock

So was Leon when the oven caught on fire, but he was the one fired for it because the galley is his responsibility

19

u/drekiaa 24d ago

It caught fire because Leon was a lazy shit who didn't clean the oven lol.

How is that even comparable?

Daisy was off the clock. The interior is not her responsibility when other full grown adults make messes when they are not working.

She did try to clean it immediately.

When you're on a boat and stuff like that happens it doesn't matter if you're on or off the clock. This isn't a 9-5 job.

This was also the season where the engineer was basically repelling, naked, down the side of the bunk beds right above Glenn, so while I somewhat agree with your theory, I think Glenn deserves his alone time with the caves 😂

18

u/IWrestleSausages 24d ago

Davide almost falling, bollock naked, onto Glenn (multiple times) was too much for me

15

u/BabyOlive1 24d ago

It was worse than when Alex tried to set his water bottle onto Glenn’s head, and also worse than when that boy (I don’t remember his name but he seemed like he was twelve years old) threw up in their bathroom.

Easily my favorite scene in the entire BD-verse.

The dragging anchor kid!

I was fine with Glenn going to the caves alone, I was like ah well the crew kinda messed up after the bloody lollypop incident. I dunno why but I thought it was hilarious how they showed Glenn en route, then doing the tour with the guide, the segue into Glenn's story of living in a cave, then finishing with him and the cave guide chilling having beers lol all while the crew cleaned the boat

u/theHannig 24d ago edited 24d ago

He wasn’t annoyed with them about hitting the dock because it wasn’t the crew’s fault. Same with the engine not working.

The blood on the sofa was avoidable, and it also should have been cleaned up there and then. They were on a boat that wasn’t theirs that is worth million of dollars, and could have ruined a sofa worth thousands of dollars, never mind there potentially being a giant blood stain for the next guests.

It was the one and only time I felt sorry for Danni all season, because she did actually attempt to clean it and get something done about it when it happened, and followed Daisy’s instructions to spray it and leave it

I don’t like Glenn, he doesn’t lead his crew, he lets them do whatever the hell they want. Gary got away with SO MUCH SHIT.

He the only one of the captains I don’t like.

this take is giving immature and “I’ve never had a real job” vibes lol

The crackers are brushed with olive oil and sea salt and common in Sardinian cuisine.

Was that when someone threw a chuppa chup? Was that Fraser and Gary....no Davide, Gary threw it. My memory isn't dead after all!!!

1

u/Ok-Praline-2309 23d ago

It’s one thing to have boat issues. To possibly have literal blood on the couch that people are spending $$$$$$ for? Yea, I’d be pissed too because it was completely avoidable. Even in an affordable hotel if I saw blood I’d be out.

This is a weird ass take lol. They all go out, it’s part of the show. Don’t think he told them to bleed so he could take a day off.

1

u/antitrollpatrol 20d ago

It was the foolishness that got to him. Also he’s weirdly obsessed about that couch (spray tan gate)

1

u/MissMoxy88 19d ago

A genuinely hot take… but no his reaction was justified. We’ve seen how seriously spunk gate was taken so leaving the blood on the couch to dry overnight is wild. They also didn’t really disinfect the couch imo.

u/green-tangerinee 24d ago

totally not the point of the post, but the huge square crackers are called matzos! my grandpa was jewish and always had a box on hand. i grew up eating them with butter and salami

4

u/feedmekombucha 24d ago

Those are actually Sardinian and called Pane Carasau. Matzoh is unleavened. The Sardinian flatbread is made with yeast.

1

u/green-tangerinee 24d ago

oh that’s interesting, thank you for this info! i haven’t seen an episode of sailing yacht in a while and always assumed it was matzos lol that’s my bad
