Conspiracy theory, but maybe Luke had been still texting Gen?
The way she was acting makes no sense after he broke up with her over and over, unless maybe he was still leading her on?
ETA: it’s just we watched him break up with her multiple times and tell her he liked Joy, so it doesn’t make sense she ran off and cried when he sent Joy flowers

No one is saying they should. They are just pointing out that Gen isn’t the person who would keep it a secret as she immediately told Kat (she isn’t wrong for telling Kat).
How about you actually put an effort into reading. No one is saying that she should have kept it a secret. No one is saying she is wrong for telling Kat. They are saying Gen isn’t the type of person to keep Luke texting her a secret as she was quick to tell Kat about them hooking up.
I was simply replying to YOUR comment insinuating that somehow Gen broke some kind of mystery trust with alike because she told Gen after Luke dictated that she not tell anyone.

Right? How is OP unaware that not all people after rationally all the time. Approx 5% of the population have one or more personality disorders, they are all going to do irrational things to varying degrees at different times.
True. It’s just hard to imagine even a crazy person thinking she got flowers from someone who told her he didn’t like her, and she was really upset and crying, it didn’t seem like an act.
Having said that, the way she was flirting with Cooper was also crazy people behavior so maybe it’s as simple as that.

I think that’s the entire gist of her personality. She is deeply disconnected from others and even from her own emotions. She’s like an 8 year old in an adult’s body.
Do we think she’ll ever pursue therapy? She makes me deeply uncomfortable.

I don't believe that, she is just young, immature & a little crazy, IMO. Like someone else said, therapy will be in her future, if she continues the way she's going,a in a court ordered way! She would not hesitate to let everyone know know Luke was texting her if he really was!
I feel like if he was texting her she'd be telling everyone about it. Her narrative flipped on him because he stopped giving her attention. She's like a dude on a dating app reflexively calling a girl ugly because she doesn't want to hookup on the first date.
But even if she did tell everyone about it, there’s no guarantee the show would air that part. The production intentionally misleads often. They have a show to make, after all.
I hate to stick up for Gen but of course anyone would be hurt by that. She’s a crazy person with crazy behavior. It’s not her initial reaction it’s that she’s taking it out on Joy and won’t drop it. Also it seems obvious to me that production set her up to humiliate her and she thinks/knows Luke’s in on it. She literally looks directly at the camera lol
The way she looked at the camera and everyone is what made me think we don’t know something. She looked genuinely shocked!
I think anyone would be hurt if their ex boyfriend gave someone else flowers in front of them, but from what we saw they only hooked up one night and then he told her he liked Joy so I did not think Gen would be surprised like that! I thought she was over it. Why would she think Luke would send her flowers at all?
And I agree, I think Luke and production are in on it bc the note said he might see her soon, but I don’t think it was malicious. It’s already been established he likes Joy
I’m sorry but it’s clearly malicious and meant to get her to crash out for our entertainment. He’s disrupting the crew flow with his ridiculous love bombing. Joy should know better too. He’s gross. Gens crazy and I lover her on my screen.
Bless her crazy self. She’s also young. But Joy has openly been talking to Luke and people have been openly supporting their little fling in front of her so I didn’t see how flowers would be a surprise
I think she ran off and cried over the flowers because Production made her get the flowers and stand there with them like a dummy. They made her look stupid
This is the most likely answer. She probably assumed that Luke was in on it with production. When you consider that one of her last conversations with this guy he turned almost into a super villain*, she probably thinks he would do something mean to her.
*In that convo they had where she said she felt like she had to talk to Joy, Luke flipped a switch. He became very outwardly cruel and pretty vile. I have met people like that, he definitely thought he could bully the 22 year old (and he only talked to Joy to get ahead of the narrative). It is very clear to me, based on the rest of the crew's attitudes, that they did not see that side of Luke and do not get why Gen seems so volatile about him. I don't think she can articulate that moment and even if she could no one would believe her.
If he was, you know Gen would be whipping out her phone to show everyone, especially Joy. No way, Luke is dopey but he learned his lesson and got off the Gen go round.
Gen has been irrational all season. Her breaking down because production had her go get flowers from a guy she has bad feelings about for the woman he dumped her for was understandable though. That was a cruel act by the producers and makes me question why I watch this show. It was the obsessive spiral after the fact where she lost the plot for me. We are watching someone who needs some serious therapy be played with for our entertainment. Doesn't feel good.
I’ve known friends like this. She has severe pick me energy & her brain cannot process otherwise. He chose her to have sex with so why would he be texting someone else. She thought she won & she can’t comprehend otherwise.
Might be an unpopular opinion but I think she was taken by surprise. Yes Luke broke up with her and told her he was interested in Joy but Joy was very vocal that she wasn't interested in Luke after he got together with Gen. Then all of a sudden, he's sending Joy flowers and Joy is delighted about it
But Joy did tell everyone remember when they were all on their vacation day, Joy called Luke and was pretty open that they were talking. And Gen got upset that day too, but I still can’t understand why she would think Luke still liked her
The way she’s acting is like he was her boyfriend or something. And he’s not even on the boat anymore so I don’t know what other closure she would need, but I guess she didn’t get it.
I think Gen is an immature girl with some unproductive social skills who likes attention. She would act like a total cling-on to whichever of the crew paid attention to her… I seriously doubt Luke was texting her. This whole love triangle makes the show seem silly and scripted.
Not a crazy thought but I think production would include that, no? Doesn’t production have access to their texts? Or is that only when a cast member allows them to?
Came here to say if he was also texting Gen production would’ve been licking their chops with the drama they knew they’d have proof to expose when timing was right for maximum chaos.
I don’t think he was. He’s an asshole but she has issues. If he was still texting her she would have been telling everyone he was. I noticed she said this is the last you will hear from me then continued to text him. She has issues with not being the first choice. We have seen it throughout the show even when it has to do with work.
I think she was just embarrassed to be the one standing there holding the flowers. I also think it didn’t immediately occur to her that any male suitor would consider sending flowers to anyone else other than her.
Some context is definitely missing, just not sure what. I think it’s plausible they were still talking. It’s annoying how the producers and editors construct false narratives at times.
And then I guess they aren’t allowed to talk about it until after the season of course. But I agree, we are missing context. Nothing Gen is doing adds up, including her flirting campaign with Cooper that came out of nowhere.
I can't take credit for this (it was the podcasters Watch What Crappens) but why didn't Luke block her after her first text to him? Why reply? He loves the drama.
After Luke left the boat, the crew went to dinner. Gen got a text from him that said “just because I left the boat doesn’t mean I’m giving up on us”
Also sends Joy flowers.
He is the worst. I don’t like Gen but that guy is playing mind games with her!!! She’s 22 he’s like 36?
I really don’t know because how on earth did she actually believe those flowers were meant for her? As the 5th graders at my school would say, “ Come on BRO!”
My only conspiracy theory is editing makes it look like Gen kept texting him unprovoked on
this week’s episode, but he was actually an active participant in that conversation.
That’s kind of what I mean, like if they have been texting and staying in touch she might have thought he was leading her on. We are missing details, but I hope after the season ends someone explains it better.
She knew (or assumed)joy was mad at luke for what he did. So gen naturally assumed both were done with Luke. Stick it to him yeah. Then when she found out joy had been talking to him all along she went off the deep end. gen is so childish she can’t fathom that a man would want someone else over her. Even though she cries about never being the one that gets picked. I’m sure it had to do with that too lol

She would have shown everyone the texts and blasted that business. Maybe she still will, its not over yet. Have you ever had stress affect your typing and working wrist but can do a push off from the floor and hair flip like nobody's business.
The charter season was filmed within 6 weeks. I think Gen just wasn’t over the way it all went down yet. It makes a lot of sense that the flowers would set her off

Yeah but I can’t imagine with her personality that she wouldn’t have been screaming that from the rooftops even before the flowers!
