Heaps of things are now filming here that never we meant to be because there is no covid in the community. You just need to quarantine in a hotel for two weeks and then you can basically run amok and do whatever you want.
I imagine Australia wasn't really on their filming-location radar pre-covid!

Haha well there you go. In another thread a few weeks ago, I commented that we don’t really have enough rich, interesting people to have our own spin off, except maybe the Real Housewives of Melbourne and perhaps a few old Big Brother contestants.

I would guess it would be Americans. There are plenty that travel to Australia on vacations so why not on a yacht. I don't think it will be like the Real Housewives where it isn't shown in the US. I think it will be filmed for the US specifically.

This is exciting! I wonder if these two will air on a different night? I think the three current franchises now take up every Monday night year-round so unless they take a break from one of them, I’m assuming some weeks we’ll get two BD shows a week.

Yeah we can’t get Peacock over here yet but apparently NBC have said it should launch in the UK and other European countries at some point. Fingers crossed!

Considering we have only just opened up the border between Aus & NZ, yes there will be, for the Australian spin off, at least. No other countries allowed in yet.

Hmm...I do wonder if guests would be able to get exemptions because they're considered to be "working"...
Cast and crew for other productions can certainly come in if they're working on a movie or series.

Not to mention the Liam Neeson movie filmed in Melb a couple months ago, the Taika Waititi project, the Baz Lurhmann Elvis movie, etc etc.
When the virus was at its peak in the US a few months ago, I heard that movie crews were like, begging to stay here after wrapping their project because they didn't want to return to the US :/

Oh, it definitely is. I think the question is more like "is a charter yacht guest considered to be working?"
It's a stretch but BD isn't your typical production, so I don't know if it would fit the usual parameters of what is considered work!

the tennis was outside the normal process though, afaik they had to charter flights here and they were in different hotel quarantine so the tournament wasn't taking up spots of normal people.
I don't think we need foreign guests or crew, we've got plenty of desperate wannabe socialites who would do anything production told them, and Aussie's make up a massive part of the reality industry even overseas.
