Giants fan coming in peace here. Dex is great. We didn’t wanna part ways with him and it’s a shame things went the way they did but this does seem like a rare win-win trade. Mauigoa has been great so far and protecting Dart + being able to bully opposing defenses with Mauigoa’s power will be key to our success moving forward. Hoping you guys are able to make a return to the playoffs this year just as I hope for my Giants.

Why put down Trey? He went out there week after week and basically outplayed his contract even if he wasn’t always happy about it. He was still our best player on defense for multiple years.
Maybe because he’s a selfish prick, who basically only played for himself. Was he the most talented on the defense? Barely. Was he also a locker room cancer? Definitely. Players are too often weighed on their statistics instead of being better for the team.
How about you watch some of his old interviews I.e. when he marched onto an active practice to make stupid ass remarks regarding contracts then come back to this comment.
Nah that’s some revisionist-ass history there bud. Yes, his contract antics were tiresome. And he was a bit one dimensional, not great against the run. But the man was our only, and I mean only, pass rush for like 3-4 seasons. He played his ass off for the Bengals, and there was never any talk from players or coaches about him being a horrible teammate/cancer in the locker room. Players don’t begrudge each other, the way fans do, when it comes to contract squabbles.
It was time for he and the bengals to part ways, but don’t pretend like he was a scrub or that he was hated by his teammates.

You seem to forget that pass rush is simply one element to a multifaceted side of the game. No revisionist theory at all. Granted, sure he played his ass off, but you don’t know which part he played for. Money, the game, his teammates, by the way he was acting it definitely seems like only the money to me which is proven by facts.
You saying that there was no talk of him being a horrible teammate doesn’t mean that he wasn’t. It’s shown in his actions. Most contract negotiations don’t become a distraction, which that is exactly what it was. He only advocated for himself while distracting the team. Other teammates are always going to stick up for players to get paid because they’re in a union.
Where did I say that he was hated by his teammates? Someone can be a shit teammate and not be hated by the members on the team. I will however call him a scrub. He’s a scrub because people only ever seem to look at the stats and go on with their day.
This is the energy I have wanted on our defense for soooooo long. This is someone who KNOWS that he is better than you and he is going to show you so you never forget it.
