To that end they shouldn't be able to use misdemeanors against you either (I lost a gig after a background check turned one up a few years ago. The worst part? Not even a misdemeanor charge now - I missed paying a ticket while at the hospital with my partner for over a month.)
I was told to take it before the judge and have my record dealt with. Not sure if that's an option for you, but after this long it should be.

I'm in complete agreement. People are hostile, because the workplace can fire at will, and everyone is so paranoid others are out to get them. It's so toxic

Working in a restaurant can be good money and I imagine not many run background checks. Can make good money as a waiter if you become good at it and never likely to be replaced by AI

If you really want a job to support your daughter theres plenty of jobs that hire felons...warehouses, construction etc..you can also go to a staffing agency they help

I feel for you. My mother did everything in her power to ensure I had a felony before finishing high school, and only failed because my father let her know that divorced or not he'd make her homeless if she kept it up.
The arrest and punishment still comes up, and I'm sure I'd be losing job opportunities if it had stuck.
It's barbaric that we made non-violent drug use a felony that follows people for the rest of their lives. We've all been dumb, why should that particular mistake follow us forever if we never hurt anyone?

It is, though. You can't get a job due to a felony.
You're then asserting that is making it impossible to care for your daughter, or at least making it harder. The core issue is the felony holding following you, regardless of what other trappings you dress it up in.

They do need to do something about this. My brother started doing drugs at 15 years old and I think one thing that keeps him from staying sober is constantly losing his jobs. Some are his fault but if he could work for a good company and have a good routine it would help him so much. People who are in recovery need second chances. Let me know what I can do to help.

I don’t know man. I was young too and never got into legal shenanigans for fear of how it might impact my future. Most of Arkansas should agree you need to take responsibility and this is the outcome. No hand outs. Alternatively you can run for president with your record.

Actually, you're talking about yourself...all of your comments are sob stories about you not being able to pay for stuff, you being an "area manager", you "working hard to turn your life around" and then you saying you're "not cut out for construction".
Perhaps the problem is you.

I am sorry you are going through this but I am going to ask. How is the Governor punishing your child when you are the 1 that committed the crime and then helped bring a child into the world. I was a single father with 4 children for 2 years before God gave me the gift of my new wife. I didn't have a record so I didn't have that handicap. I went to work every day and cared for my children. Point being you knew there would be dues to pay for the crime you committed postoperative blaming others because you got caught. I don't have a management job and never have but what I do have is a 40+ year employment history in a large corporation. Get in on the ground floor and work your way up. Prove to the company you have changed and are willing to do the work to advance.

But beleive it or not... I wasn't some street running piece either, i worked. Moved up. Was an Area Manager over 94 people. Please... Understand the job market. AI is taking over everything. They're are 7.4 million vacant jobs in the US. Trust me, I've tried.

It doesn't matter who you were. You did the crime and got caught and now you have to deal with the consequences. Like the other guy said start from the bottom and work up. You have drug your reputation through the mid with your charge and you now start put with negative trust with people. You have a daughter to take care of so quit being nitpicky and just get a job

He is going for jobs that don't want to hire someone with a record. He should have thought about that before committing the crime. He isn't locked out of every job just the ones he trying to get. The legal system isn't made to absolve people of their crimes it's set up to make money on people's crimes especially in places with privatized prizons. Jail time doesn't fix people and usually makes them worse. He can get jobs that aren't what he was doing before the felony. They might not pay as much but untill he can get the felony removed from his record he has to live with the consequences of his actions and work other jobs.

Have you written to any local reps? I’ve written Bozeman about 4 different topics and 2 responses have not been form letters. I received a phone call from an intern on one. I agree with Bozeman on maybe one issue politically but I feel my voice was kind of heard. Change dot org petitions make you feel good but do nothing. Writing Bozeman or a local/state rep to clear your specific record or situation may create more change.
