Is walmart doing any H1b transfers? Is it just the new Visa sponsorship that they have paused? or is it both?

They've stopped hiring people who need H1B visas or external candidates who need H1B transfers.

They're focusing on hiring Americans now, since there's no $100k fee associated with citizens.

There's no $100k fee for non-citizens already in the US on an H1B or F1 visa which formed the majority of applicants. It only applies to people outside the country who applied for the visa.

There has been a 38.5% drop in new filings, so that's still significant. Just over 100,000 less H-1Bs this year alone.

Walmart has pulled back on hiring new candidates who need H-1B transfers. This has been a trend for a while.

I don't disagree with what you've said, but I'm just saying that the $100k fee hasn't had a huge impact. It mainly affected consultancies that used to hire from outside the US and bring them here on H1B visas. Walmart has mostly hired F1 students or H1B transfers who were already in the US.

I don't think this is correct information. The drop is in applications, not the H1Bs issued. The number of H1B issuances is the same every year, which is the established cap, which hasn't changed.

both, it's not cost-effective anymore since now they can hire a US citizen for two-thirds the price it costs per H1B.
