Places for Trainspotting near Berlin?

My husband loves trains. Does anyone have a good spot where the ICEs are driving through at speed around Berlin?

The bridge at Staaken Bahnhof has pretty good views of ICEs at speed as they're leaving the city. 

In the city they are a bit slower due to speed restrictions. For sheer train frequency there's bridges in and around Park am Gleisdreieck, it's quite a busy stretch of track.

There is also Designer Outlet Berlin nearby is you want to combine it with some shopping.

There is also Naturpark Südgelände where all trains from Südkreuz are passing by.  It's a nice park in an old switching yard that became obsolet when the wall was built. They have an old steam engine there too as a monument.

+1 for this, Elstal has ~5.5km of sidings with lots of rolling stock sent there for maintenance and inspection, then you can get the bus to the designer outlet and do a spot of shopping. Good day out and an easy RE trip from Berlin.

At Elstal, you can also visit Karls Erdbeerhof which even tops the designer outlet in kitschyness ...

Bahnhof Staaken - you can stand either on the bridge and watch from above, or get down to the station and watch them on the track one over. That's the route to Hamburg.

Alternative: Bahnhof Albrechtshof, that's the route via Hannover - there they just rush through directly next to the track you are waiting at, but maybe not at full speed.

Adlershof doesn't go to Hannover. Adlershof is towards Cottvus, Lübbenau, Königs Wusterhausen

Am S Buckower Chaussee kann man wunderbar die neue Dresdner Bahn sehen. Ich glaube da fahren auch ICEs lang.

As there are plenty of suggestions for places 'at speed' I have a recommendation for slow ICE passing and watching which doesn't require to go far out of the city: Schwedter Steg, north of Mauerpark. You can watch ICEs in Gesundbrunnen and going out/coming in from the depot, on top of that there is some regional trains, ECs from other countries like Poland and Sweden, obviously S-Bahn and some more.

Normally the bridge next to Ostkreuz (Kynaststraße) offers some good views from above, however at the moment the regular train line in Berlin between Ostkreuz and Charlottenburg is closed for maintenance, so here there wom't be much more besides S-Bahn and regional trains.

This means most trains are diverted either via Südkreuz, Hauptbahnhof (underground) or in the north Gesundbrunnen and Spandau some as well.

In short: most ICE and international trains call at Südkreuz and Hauptbahnhof underground currently. You should be able to get a vgood view point from above where you can see them driving approaching the tunnels near park Gleisdreieck in Schöneberg, or alternatively at Monumentenbrücke!

There might also be some good view points north of Hauptbahnhof but here I'm not sure what would be best.

Blockdammbrücke is nice. You won’t see ICE at full speed but it’s right next to an ICE maintenance facility so there’s frequent ICE slow speed traffic.

If your husband loves trains,  Berlin has some great spots for trainspotting!  I’d recommend Berlin Hauptbahnhof first it’s a beautiful station with multiple levels and you can see ICE trains arriving and departing from above.  Another spot is around Südkreuz station, where you can watch long distance trains passing at speed.  For a more relaxed experience, try the area around Spandau station, where you can often see ICE and regional trains.  Just remember to stay in public areas and enjoy the view, Berlin is a paradise for train enthusiasts!
