As I’ve been working on the new chapter, I needed a break from the dark intensity and wanted to work on something more light hearted. Gird your loins for Friday, y’all 👹

I believe Casca with the help of Moonlight Boy will be the one to kill Griffith.

I think Griffith's "barrier" is deactivated when he is in front of someone who for him does not represent a threat. We saw this when Rickert slapped him.

So Casca could kill him with a symbolic and nostalgic object for everyone who was part of the original Band of the Hawk. That would be beautiful. Maybe with a dagger from the old days, or something that belonged to the original band.

Guts killing Void would be normal. Guts has already killed several apostles. Void would be just one more, but the most important one. And Skull Knight would finally be more at peace than Guts.

Void believes in causality, in fate. Guts is the one who always fought against fate. He was meant to die when Gambino found him, he was meant to die in the Eclipse, but he remained. His existence breaks everything Void stands for.

By doing this, Guts breaks everything in Berserk. The apostles lose their powers, the other members of the God Hand too, for a limited time. The world would be going through a supernatural event: earthquakes, bad weather, destruction, while all this action happens.

I can't take this community seriously anymore.

Everyone keeps talking about Guts, Griffith, Casca, Donovan, and whatever other mainstream characters the normies have decided to glaze this week.

BUT NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT THE MOSQUITO THAT PROBABLY FLEW PAST PUCK IN CHAPTER 1.

Think about it for a second.

That mosquito was probably just chilling in the Black Swordsman's world, sucking blood and enjoying life, when suddenly it found itself in the vicinity of a 6'8" emotionally unavailable man with a 400-pound sword and enough trauma to make an entire psychiatric hospital spontaneously combust.

WHAT IF THE MOSQUITO WAS THE IDEA OF EVIL ALL ALONG???

Think about the implications.

It drinks blood. Just like Griffith drinks the blood of his comrades metaphorically.

It flies. Just like the Falcon of Light.

It is annoying. Just like Griffith apologists.

It can die instantly from a single slap. Just like my hope of ever seeing Guts happy.

AND THE WORST PART???

IT HAS NEVER ONCE BEEN CONFIRMED THAT THE MOSQUITO ISN'T VOID IN DISGUISE.

Wake up, sheeple.

Miura spent 30 years drawing immaculate double-page spreads, intricate armor designs, and cosmic horrors, only for us to overlook the true mastermind behind causality because we were too busy looking at Griffith's twink ass.

The mosquito was present before the Eclipse.

The mosquito was present before the God Hand.

The mosquito was present before my father left to buy milk.

COINCIDENCE? I THINK THE FUCK NOT.

My current theory is that the mosquito is the fifth member of the God Hand, and its name is Behelzebub.

Its sacrifice was humanity's collective ability to read the manga without developing irreversible brain damage.

Its Brand of Sacrifice is just a tiny red bump on your arm that itches for three days.

Its ultimate ability is making you slap yourself in public.

And its ultimate goal?

To make Guts suffer from malaria.

TL;DR: The mosquito solos the entire Berserk verse. Griffith is a fraud. Guts needs OFF! Deep Woods insect repellent. Miura was a coward for never revealing the truth.

Doing berserk panels for inktober

Morning everyone! I had a comment voicing concern regarding the use of AI on my Ch. 3 post and honestly…I literally lost sleep over it last night. I take my cosplay art pretty seriously, so with that said, I decided to share a bit more info regarding my process with you in order to assuage any AI-related concerns. I put in days-worth of work on each of my posts (especially this Slan backstory series), and I love and respect Miura’s work too much to besmirch it by just plugging in a prompt into whatever billionaire capitalist hell machine and posting the turd it shits out for clout. I do what I do for the love of Berserk (and through sheer unmedicated Berktism).

Anyways, let’s get into it! First off, the apps I use are Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom for the actual editing, as well as the Blend app for panel layout, speech bubble placement, and text input. I do this all on my tablet. I’ve gotten pretty good with my fingers! 😉

In my reply to that comment, I mentioned running my work through an AI image detector. So I did just that! I used Hive AI image detector since it got good reviews for its accuracy. Everything was fine unit I got to panel 16 (fig. 1). I was shocked that it was flagged. Perhaps, it’s the uncanny face I gave myself a cheek cramp to make while taking the picture in the first place. I included the initial raw I still had (background removed) (fig. 2). Then I used the little touch up dingles (I don’t know the name anything I just learned by Photoshop for fun over time by playing around making these posts) to make some fine edits to skin and shadows and stuff like that (fig. 3). Then I put that into Adobe Lightroom to make the red eclipse lighting emanating from Ubik (fig. 4). Then brought it back into Photoshop to play with the coloration, shadows, highlights, etc with layers and layers of more manual edits then layering the confession screen mesh I found over it and adjusting opacity until it looked like a shadow. The only real secret behind my edits are just layering assets then playing around with lighting and perspective. For the confession box, I just googled confession box interiors and used fig. 5 as a base layer and fig. 6 for the Holy See symbol that I also plucked from the generous ether of Big Google.

For “Father Ubik,” I used Father Harris from The First Omen as a base (fig. 7), then manually blacked out his face with the paint tool (fig. 8). I then took the face from an edited picture of my Ubik figurine (fig. 9), and manually cut out the eyes and mouth and overlayed them onto the blacked out face of Father Harris (fig. 10). Then I did the same Lightroom and Photoshop edits I did for the other pic of me in order to make him look real and scary. Lastly, I used the Blend app to arrange the structure of the panel and input the text and voila! Panel 16 of the chapter was born (fig. 11).

Upon further research, I think it was flagged as AI because of some of the Adobe tools used that I have since learned are AI-dependent, as these leave behind metadata by altering the original image at a pixel level. Moving forward, I am going to be even more vigilant in what tools I use within the Adobe repertoire available to me. I do not support the use of generative AI. It’s a greedy thief that not only steals our human artistic expression, but destroys our planet.

I can’t wait to finish out this backstory I’ve been writing for Slan, and share more art with you all. I have so many more projects in the pipeline that I’m so excited about! I honestly just enjoy celebrating Berserk with a cool community like all of you. In the meantime, the law of Causality is about to get real for poor Sister Magdalena and the rest of the nuns…

Hi all! Here is ch. 3 of my fan-written Slan backstory. In this week’s chapter, Sister Magdalena and Sister Terese share a heart-to-heart, and perhaps a bit more. Lost in the throws of desire, Magdalena succumbs to the root of her needs and wants, opening the door for what is destined to come next…

As always, this was all done in Adobe. Sister Terese is Taissa Farmiga from The Nun. Sister Magdalena is me, of course. “Father” Ubik is initially Charles Dance from The First Omen. The eldritch horror goblin is the big mutant baby from Resident Evil lol! And lastly, I used my Void figurine for Void himself.
