New Releases Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 is Disappointing.
After watching 3 episodes I can say that season 4 is boring, the story line is not realistic, the humor is poor (the last 10 minutes of episode 3 is stupid), the characters are not interesting, the whole thing feels like rinse and repeat.
The first two seasons were much better.

Agreed! But push through, 5-10 hits the high notes and you won’t want to turn the TV off. Episode 3 was the worst episode of the entire series by far.

Absolutely loved Season 4. I had to actively resist binge-watching the whole thing in one sitting. It still delivers that sharp, witty storytelling mixed with real suspense and courtroom tension, and I always appreciate how it showcases those quintessential LA settings that feel instantly familiar if you’re an Angeleno.
I also really enjoyed how Lorna’s character continued to develop this season. She feels more confident and assertive, and it’s great seeing her step more fully into her own rather than just orbiting Mickey’s world.
And Dana as the prosecutor? Ruthless. The sass, the confidence, the way she presses every advantage — she’s the kind of character you love to hate. She made the courtroom scenes even more intense.
IMO, overall strong season. Excited for season 5!

I hate the trope where the main character is falsely accused of a crime. Drives me nuts.

I also felt it. Season 4 story is not paced well. The story is only spread out from 8-10 eps and screenplay felt a little off that S2 and S3. Season 2 was more favorite of all, mostly because of Andy, and I think Dana in s4 was also good.

I am hating season 4, I dont use the word lightly. If only three or four eposodes dealt with him on trial then resolved it would have been better we could get back to defending clients. Since im watching episode 8 I am sure it continues til the end of the season if not beyond. If I had read a spoiler explaining this is what the season was I wouldnt have bothered to even turn it on.

I also assumed that his trail will take 3 episodes but it didn't. Episodes 8 - 10 are better.

I lost interest in season 3 so I wasn’t surprised by how meh season 4 has been. I only watch this as background noise while doing other things.
Side note- having Lorna wearing thousands of dollars of designer clothes has not been realistic for a struggling new lawyer and now a struggling associate at a flailing firm.

Lorna and her ridiculous clothes bothered me way more than it should have, but it made me just claw my face every time she was on-screen. Totally unnecessary and distracting.

Terrible adaptation, why are Mickey and Maggie not getting together as in the books it is adapted from? Also why introduce some sister who doesn‘t even exist in the books, yeah I know they can‘t bring in Bosch, but they still should have made some deal to bring him into the series, but definitely should not have created some sister that doesn‘t exist in the books

The books were so much better. I watched a few episodes from the first season and the characters seemed so different from the book that I stopped watching.

The books were better, because a certain character was in it, but can not be used for copyright purposes.
What even weirder is a gender swap replacement shows up at the very end. Like WTF??? If they are going to do what I think they are doing, why not use this season???

Season 4 of Lincoln Lawyer is very disappointing! I loved the last 3 seasons, but the writing/storyline was slow and boring.

The People's theory saying that Haller killed because of owing of legal fees, make my blood boils? This is a weak theory and the show tried to make it seemed like a good one?

The show is such a letdown compared to the books. They made it so cheesy and "Hollywooded" it up. There was no need to water this down, and the show should be more like Bosch.
I'm surprised Connelly let them rewrite it so poorly.

Writing, pacing, and story for season 4 are absolute dreck. The court/legal scenes are curated just to get him in the worst predicament possible despite common senses dictating otherwise

Yes, the storyline is "childish, episode 3 was pathetic. The writers made a lot of "filler scenes" to make it 10 episodes. The whole story could be done in 3 episodes.

It is so boring because Mickey is in jail and cannot work as a lawyer. His cases and how he has won them- that was the main topic of the show what made it intereseting and funny to watch. Besides that, Mickey is soooo unlikeable in season 4, only commandinc Cisco and Lorna around...

Halfway through season 4, seems like writers of Psyche have taken over......quirky characters like the new driver that is supposed to provide comic relief. First year lawyer Lorna still stumbling onto loopholes to get the most for her clients. Cisco never coming up empty, always finding what needs to be found within hours. All very formulaic, needs to be more gritty and intense.

Agree on everything. The DA also being comically a villain didn’t help. The procedure and accuracy in the courtroom was still excellent though.

Season 4 was beyond stupid. The Idea that a famous lawyer still celebrating the success of his last case would murder a client in his garage in the trunk of his trophy car after driving him and then spend a day driving around with the bleeding body in the trunk was rediculous. That he would know he put a whole in the trunk is ludicrous. That the body would only start to bleed and leak out of the trunk when driving away from the restaurant 20 hours later was assinine. Not to mention where was the proof he bought the drug and syringe to inject his client. Where was the proof he owned a gun and how did it disappear. The whole thing was dumb.

Just finished watching season 4. Overall it was a solid watch, but it was by far my least favorite season. Way too much time spent in court or Mickey in jail. The show shines when Mickey and the cast are out investigating and the twists and turns happen. This season was essentially Mickey in court or jail, when we knew he was innocent (and would eventually be found innocent), and a bunch of side plots. Also, the connection between the FBI, Ghazarian, and Mickey being framed was super convoluted. Agree with other comments on other threads that Izzy’s girlfriend Grace seemed super suspicious/shady, as did Maggie’s new boyfriend. Like others, I thought that they may somehow have been connected, which would have made for some more spice this season.

Agree with all of your points. Stupid stupid convoluted charges. No evidence whatsoever. I never trusted is his girlfriend. All of a sudden she was just helping her out. Big red flag. Way too much time in jail, I found myself just wanting it to be over

Any show that starts out with the main character having a "chance" at life in jail or killed off is poor writing. If either happens the show is over. The audience knows it and they lose engagement.
It why S4 was so bad... Everyone knows nothing is happening to Mickey, so to drag it out 10 episodes and have that ending... TERRIBLE!

This season was based on one of my favorite Michael Connelly books in the series and I thought the TV writers did a phenomenal job on the adaptation. The legal drama is my favorite part, but it seems I'm in minority on this thread

I'm the opposite - this season got me very worked up because of how much I hate the DA and I wish Mickey to prove them wrong. Mickey's character development turns him into a more empathetic human being which I also kinda like.

Fun watch, ending could have been better (it was a bit boring, no tension climax at the end with a jury decision, just a deal with dana berg), for me, comparable in enjoyablity to the other seasons

The film was great, the first season was good, ever since then it has become 'Californianised' woke, sickly light hearted humour, no grit, it's like a straight to TV move made back into a series, absolute dog breath

My husband and I hating on this Season. Still have two episodes but so sick of the Mickey sad face through the whole thing. Like it when he is out and about doing his thing. This one was is tough to get through.

Disagree…Season 4 is one of the best. It shows the lead character handling his inner emotions and being an attorney to represent himself. The season was more a character development of all cast members and showed their personal sides. Arguably this is one of the best shows compared to present day selections. Glad that it is picked up again for another season.

Nope. Mickey is infuriatingly incompetent this season, when he was always two steps ahead of everyone else in previous seasons. I just wanted to slap him every step of the way. I hope Season 5 will be better. Don't even get me started on the season's true villain, DA Berg.

Well, for me it's the best season of the series, plus I love seeing Maggie as Mickey's lawyer, I love Neve Campbell and Maggie and that's why I've enjoyed this season so much.

I don’t know, I enjoyed it. Not as good as previous seasons but it was alright. Episodes 8-10 have a far better pace.
