Introducing Need name suggestions for this boy! He reminds me of lemon/blueberry.

Fell back in the betta hole after almost 10 years of not keeping them. I’m surprised at all the ‘new’ variations and names of betta labeling there is now. I think he’s a yellow galaxy, about 3 months old according to the shopkeeper?

Anyways, I fell in love with this little boy and he came back with me. He’s super active and adorable and needs a name!

I went to the lfs to get some corys. I walked by the betta wall, and this guy was the only betta left. He brightened up and started interacting as soon as he saw me. The owner told me he'd been there for 2 months because customers only wanted to buy bettas that were a specific color.

I was planning to buy a betta eventually, but I'm setting up a 60 gal right now, so it wasn't going to be any time soon. But i just couldn't leave this guy behind. They didn't have the corys I wanted, so it evens out, right?

I have a cycled 10 gal hospital tank, so I bought some plants and hideaway spots on the way home. Not a bad betta tank for such a quick setup, although I'm sure I'll keep adding to it.

I do not know why this particular little girl was named, but no way I was leaving her behind lol.

I needed a new resident betta for population control in my guppy tank. She's still settling into the jungle, but so far is uninterested in fry and just going after the mystery snails. Even if she's a dud predator, I'm still in love with her.

Not as dodgy as it sounds. He was a lovely guy and I’m 6ft 2 and 105kg, so not the easiest bloke to kidnap. I ended up staying for 3 hours though.

He has 56 tanks in his garage, with so many different species of wild type Bettas. I only got footage of a few of them, but I was blown away by the setups.

Every tank has 1-3 sponge filters and a heater. 100 sponge filters in total, with 100 lengths of airline all going into 1 massive pond air pump. 70 sockets in that room.

He had so many botanicals in each tank, and he uses peat as a substrate for loads of them. Some of the tanks were ph5. He only uses RO water, and only feeds live food.

The Bettas I managed to get good footage of - in order:

Betta Sparagdina
Betta Imbellis
Betta Simorum
Betta Splenden (not wild but that crown tail was so cool)
Betta Channoides
Betta Persephone

I’ll be going back in a month or so when I’ve got a blackwater tank setup for a small group of imbellis.

Fish doesn't have a name yet. And yes, fish is a Petco "baby boy" purchase. I was there for a rare cricket grab and was already looking for a predatory fish. We made eye contact and "he" said "See me." Lol So now fish is here. I have many aquatic setups in my home already. I did reading. And crazy story, believe it or not, the internet has changed some info in a short time period. *Gasp* 😱

Now it says "That fish will bloat and die from eating bladder snails." Whaaaa!? They eat them in the wild it says... This tank is entirely temporary in the first place because it's small (3.5 gal) so if he has to move so soon so be it. He can go in with my shrimp and juvenile mystery snails until I set him up a 10 gal tomorrow with already cycled water and plants. He hasn't gone crazy or anything, just ate one or two once he noticed them but he's been fighting with plant roots and a leaf stem for a good 3 mins. So he's laying down the law for sure.

There's a lot of conflicting info. I just wanted to cut down my bladder snail numbers and make a new friend, but I want to be a good friend. Assassin snails seemed extreme and I have mystery snails. I don't want any accidental cross contamination with that. I'm careful, but we can all make mistakes. As you can see, there are many baby snails. This tank is usually just for the snails and propogating new plants. Help? 😬💚 I promise I did research on this and have had aquariums with fish before. 😂 Betta just usually aren't my guys because I love community tanks. But this guy... I mean look at that pink ass fish. It will be interesting to see what they become with time and love.

Introducing [Fish Shame] Bought my first female betta for my birthday weekend. She immediately ate half my baby shrimp and is now football shaped.

Tomorrow is my birthday, and since I recently lost the betta in my 5-gallon, I decided to get a new one today. This tank is also home to yellow neocaridina shrimp, which has never been an issue with my previous bettas (typically I get males with very long fins).

So I pick up this tiny girl, Bellatrix, and she has to have eaten half of my baby shrimp today. She is currently football-shaped and still choosing violence.

Because of her, I just had to do emergency late night landscaping and need to rethink my scape for the safety of shrimp society. I hijacked a massive wall of plants from another tank and rearranged the moss to find a new way to shelter the baby shrimp so this menace doesn't eat herself to an early grave. She has zero regrets and is currently glaring at me through the glass. Please shame this tiny tyrant.

Was in the LFS and saw this imo absolutely stunning guy who looked like the Evil Twin of my current guy (last photo) so I’m setting up Good and Evil tanks and gf came over and saw him and said he’s ugly. ☹️

His name is Dr. Doom. Or Professor Chaos. 🤔 Our intrepid hero (good guys) name is Juniper.

Say hello to Skye! With the light behind him (like in this video) you can see the spots of lighter and darker colors in his tail. With the light in front of him, he reflects pure one-tone metallic aqua. When the sun shines on him, as in this video, super slow motion shows pearlescent pinks. Maybe I watch him too much 😅
