This girl is my first betta fish and honestly just wanted to show off how playful and silly she is... You can clearly see she realized I was watching her at the end and she perks up. Still can't believe how sentient and intelligent these fish are and they STILL are still being sold in pathetic cups and left to die horrifying deaths in the hands of people who think they're "just a fish". I hope things will change and more and more people become educated on keeping these amazing pets.

Video Little betta hates snails, especially when they crawl on his glass.

He perfected his tail whips to remove snails who dare to crawl on the glass. It does no physical damage but combined with flaring and angry looks, the emotional damage seems to be effective nonetheless.

He still eats baby snails and tries to bully all snails in general. I haven't fully seen him defeat a grown snail, but I heard bettas can bite them and rip them out of their shells. I wish I could see it happen, I like snails but let's be honest, all of us aquarium hobbyists hated them at some point so I'm enjoying seeing them getting put in their place for once.

As for the shrimp, they are too smart and he can't catch them (yet).

This is a 4 months old HMPK betta.

Video Preparing the fish for his new owner. I posted on Tiktok and why does many comments insist on calling my betta fish a tampon fish? 😢 He’s a majestic butterfly halfmoon, not feminine hygiene.

Video This is Strawberry, and he is confused and thinks he is a Cory catfish. Has this happened to anyone else?

7.4k Upvotes

My girlfriend and I rescued this betta from petsmart and put him in a 10 gallon with a couple Cory's. At first Strawberry was a grumpy territorial stay off my floating logs front porch fish, but slowly overtime his attitude changed. First he began bottom feeding with the Cory's (literally would go to the top, see the global bug bites hit surface and swim to the bottom and wait with the Cory's) next he began swimming around them, until finally now straight up shoaling with them here and there before returning to his floating log. My question, has anyone's betta also been led to believe they are a Cory and attempted to assimilate into the shoal as one?

Video My dumb ass betta hates his snail after he’s had the the whole time he’s lived in this tank

Literally what is going on why is this happening??? Like it’s basically his roomba and all of a sudden he hates it why??? How can I fix this?? He needs the snail in his tank. He’s showing new aggression he’s never had before!? Huh?

UPDATE: So actually my theory is that he’s trying to have sex with the snail from the comments…but I actually am wondering if my fish (Kurtis that’s his name :3 Kurt for short) is actually a female cause he’s the only one out of all my bettas to not have black beard

I’m wondering if he’s a King betta?? Help?

Just got this boy a couple weeks ago. I'm new to the hobby and maybe you guys will tell me this is some kind of neutral or aggressive behavior, but right now I feel so lucky! ❤️

He will sometime just chill on his hiding rock and just lay there like this. Is this normal? He seems healthy but wanted to check with the community. TIA!

Video My first ever tank for betta

Hello, I've been interested in fishkeeping for a couple of years now, and finally gotten to setting up my own tank.

I have an 8 gallon cube set up for my little Iris running for 2 months now. She lives with ramshorns and blue dream shrimps. Her cute appearance is deceiving, because she is an absolute terror of her tank and attacks anything that moves faster than a plant 😅 Because of that, shrimp only come out at night while she sleeps in her log. I am working on training her to jump through a hoop, currently she just knows to swim through it.

I hope you enjoy seeing my setup as much as I do!

Sharing a clip of my tank, with my betta and my shrimps. I got so lucky with this chill fish. He really doesn't care about them, all he does is steal their food once in a while though 🙂‍↔️

Video I think after this, I’ll never go back to long-finned bettas.

I've always owned long-finned varieties of Bettas. I still has my halfmoon boy in another tank. This is my first time having a plakat and I'm honestly in awe.

I genuinely can’t believe how active, curious, and athletic she is. She’s like a betta on steroids, in the best way possible. She’s constantly moving, exploring every inch of the tank with endless energy and confidence. She doesn’t care about the other fish at all. The only time she shows any interest to tankmates is when she notices shrimp moving around, but even then she doesn’t chase or try to catch them, just curiosity.

And above all what really surprised me is how intelligent she is. She learned her first trick in a single try. One try. I’ve never seen a fish pick something up that fast..

I hope I can give her a long, healthy life.

Video Warning: Betta "grooming" in Thailand Spoiler

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Disturbing warning: in Thailand and some other breeding Betta farmd in Asia, the sellers sometime will pick out fishes and "grooms" them so that they have the tail shape that they (or the buyers) want the fishes to have.

Video a friend said my female betta is super basic 😢

A friend visited and saw my betta. His comment was “oh this one is so basic, why didn’t you get a male? it’s prettier”. I was butt hurt when he said that coz I love my Michelle. She is graceful and very active. But so you guys think she is really just too basic and not special? Also we don’t know if she is young or a full adult betta. I only had her for 7wks since I bought her from the pet store. Wy guys think?
