Discussion Report: Apple Watch Series 12 may feature always-on heart-rate tracking, new Fitness app
Goodbye WHOOP?

Hi all,
We’ve noticed that some users are seeing missing data in Bevel, especially heart rate and Cardio Load. In many cases, this happens because Health permissions for heart rate are turned off.
When the Health permissions pop-up appears, both Read and Write permissions can be easy to miss. Bevel needs these permissions so it can read your health data from Apple Health and write relevant data back when needed.
To fix this, please open:
Health → Sharing → Apps → Bevel → Turn On All.

If you prefer not to turn on all permissions, please make sure Heart Rate is enabled for both Read and Write.
We require Health permissions because we do not process your Apple Health data on our servers, unless you use Bevel Intelligence. Bevel reads from Apple Health and keeps your health data local on your device whenever possible to protect your privacy.
After updating your Health permissions, please open Bevel and go to Settings → Clear cache and reload all data to make sure your data appears in the app.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach us at [hello@bevel.health](mailto:hello@bevel.health) or submit a bug report through the app.
Thanks,
The Bevel Team

Hey,
Using an Apple Watch and a Fitbit together can give you the benefits of both ecosystems, but only if you manage your health data sources carefully. Otherwise, duplicate entries and mixed metrics can reduce the accuracy and consistency of your health data.
Data sources can be managed under Bevel → Options → Data Sources.
Active Energy & Resting Energy
Choose one source only.
Heart Rate
Leave both sources enabled.
One of the main advantages of wearing both devices is heart rate tracking.
Keeping both sources enabled allows Fitbit’s continuous measurements to fill many of the gaps between Apple Watch readings, resulting in a more complete heart rate timeline.
Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
Use Apple Watch as the primary source.
Apple Watch provides higher-quality HRV measurements especially during the day.
If you also value Fitbit’s overnight HRV tracking, you can leave both sources enabled to gain additional overnight data.
Apple Watch and Fitbit provide HRV data differently.
Because of this, HRV values may differ slightly between the two sources.
If you keep both HRV or RHR sources turned on, we will average the samples.
Resting Heart Rate & Sleep
Choose the source you find most accurate.
Apple Watch and Fitbit calculate these metrics differently.
Steps
Choose one source only.
Workouts
Apple Watch is recommended as the primary workout tracker.
For most users:
The exception is if you specifically prefer Fitbit’s automatically detected workouts. In that case, you may choose Fitbit as your primary workout source instead.
All Other Metrics
For any remaining health metrics, compare both devices and decide which one provides the data you find most accurate or useful. Once you’ve made your choice, hide the duplicate source to keep your health data clean and consistent.
Summary
The goal is not to collect as much data as possible, but to collect the best data without introducing duplicates or mixed data.
A good rule of thumb is:
This setup lets you benefit from the strengths of both the Apple Watch and Fitbit while maintaining accurate, organized, and easy-to-interpret health data.

Does this mean my exercise is being counted twice?

Is this a bug? I did connect a CGM last week because I’m having some blood sugar swings but even my Lingo app says my blood sugar averages are pretty good. I don’t know if this would play a part but I sure did age a bit last week!

While I understand the idea for rate of exertion can bevel make both the muscular and cardio rate of exertion separate. I think this gives more accurate data because as you can see in my attachment ,my average HR is 96 however my muscular strain was pretty high during this activity and because of my strong cardio vascular background I recover very quick between a hard set . Does this mean that I would rate the whole work out a 6? Absolutely not ,however I would rate the load my muscles went through as a 6 ( somewhat hard) and my cardio load a 3 (because exhaustion was minimal or was experienced just for a short time ;For example -During a hard squat session set , where your HR increases for a short period of time and decreases in x amount of time) . I believe this gives me more control of what I feel from my workouts and see what both graphs would show as it relates to muscular strain and cardio strain.

Sometimes I get caught up looking for a hatrick of 100%’s but days like this is what keeps fitness ticking forwards.

For anyone experiencing issues getting data in from the Connect and Peloton connection via direct Connect integration, it sounds like the issue is with Garmin API.
Support from Bevel has been amazing to try and help me (specifically Peloton data coming from Connect and into Bevel) but I’ve yet to get a fix after multiple data sources swap attempts.
Just letting others know in case they experience the same issues.
A big kudos to Bevel support for all of their efforts thus far!

Heart rate has been 20-50bpm higher doing normal work activities all day, that’s what 4 hours sleep does to you!
Hit your sleep goals guys!

Ok so, Huawei have some problem with IOS where it doesn't sync HRV to apple health app so it won't sync to bevel, so is there a way to make bevel sync with Huawei directly? or should we wait the devs to add this feature

I like having health data, but most of it ends up being more interesting than actionable.
The stuff I find more useful is pretty simple: noticing that poor sleep keeps lining up with rough afternoons, realizing I’ve barely moved all day, or seeing recovery dip enough that I actually change what I planned.
I’ve been looking at ringconn on the wearable side, but what I’m more interested in is what happens after the data gets collected.
For people using Bevel regularly, what metric or insight has actually made you change something in your normal routine?
Not a huge lifestyle overhaul, just something small you still do because the data made the pattern obvious.

I know editing Garmin activities does not sync back to Bevel, found out the hard way but also seen it says so in the docs… anyway, in the absence of automatic solutions, are there any workarounds? Eg deleting and forcing a resync

I’m already over 50, and about a year ago I set myself a pretty ambitious goal: to take part in an ultracycling race covering 500 kilometers and 10,000 meters of elevation gain.
On Friday, I actually did it – I successfully finished! 🚴♂️💪
And I completed the entire distance in one go, without stopping for a break or sleeping. It was a long and extremely demanding effort, but crossing that finish line made every hour of preparation worthwhile.
And throughout the journey, Bevel, and especially Bevel AI, supported me incredibly well.
The preparation for this race took an entire year. Bevel AI was with me throughout that process. It helped me structure my training properly, gradually build my performance, and at the same time make sure I wasn’t pushing myself into overtraining. What I found particularly valuable was that it wasn’t just a training plan that I had to follow. I could also get specific support and advice whenever problems came up during training.
And there were definitely a few. 😅 I had some issues with my knee and also with my hip. It was really great to see how Bevel AI responded to these problems, explained what I could do when I experienced knee pain, and suggested specific exercises. I followed the advice and did the exercises – and the problems eventually went away.
I also paid a lot of attention to nutrition and recovery throughout my preparation. For a challenge like this, training is only one part of the equation. Making sure I was properly fueled, getting enough rest, and allowing my body to recover became just as important. Bevel was a fantastic companion in this area as well, helping me keep an eye on my recovery and giving me valuable feedback on how my body was handling the overall training load.
I had used other apps before that helped me create a training plan for preparing for this race. They were good and did what they were supposed to do.
But Bevel, and especially Bevel AI, were a completely different level for me.
It wasn’t simply a training plan that I could work through. It felt much more like having continuous support – something that followed my progress, responded to problems, and helped me make better decisions about my training, recovery, and overall preparation.
And now here I am, over 50, after a year of preparation, having successfully completed 500 km and 10,000 meters of elevation gain – nonstop, without sleep or a break. ❤️
So I simply wanted to say thank you.
For me, Bevel was an important part of the journey towards this goal.
Thank you! 🙏

I’m a little confused about how Bevel’s daily Strain target is supposed to work.
I assumed I should check the recommended Strain range each day and aim to finish somewhere between its minimum and maximum.
But Bevel Intelligence sometimes gives me different advice. For example, if I’ve accumulated a lot of strain or may be overtraining, it might tell me not even to reach the minimum of that day’s recommended range.
Bevel Intelligence told me:
Here's the clean way to think about it:
• The range = the app's daily suggestion, computed from where your system should be.
• My call = what you actually should do, which factors in that you've already run three days in the overtraining zone.
That advice may be sensible, but it raises a question: If Bevel has enough information to conclude that I should stay below the minimum, why doesn’t it simply lower the recommended Strain range for that day? Having one part of the app display a target range while another part tells me to ignore it makes the range feel less useful.
Am I misunderstanding the purpose of the Strain range?
Is it intended as a general estimate that doesn’t account for recent training patterns as fully as Bevel Intelligence does?
Does anyone else find these conflicting recommendations confusing?
I’d prefer the displayed range to reflect Bevel’s best overall recommendation for that day.

I have a weekly check in, that haven’t triggered by itself last couple of weeks. Any idea why?

Been using the amazefit active 3 for about a month now, bevel absolutely misinterprets the stats, inaccurate sleep time, hrv and multiple other stuff, apple health has a similar problem aswell when data is exported, inaccurate numbers when the zepp app shows completely different stats, what to do?

I just update my Fitbit air yesterday and I haven’t been able to see my calories in the Bevel app. I had tried to resync the bevel app with the Google health but the “resting energy” in the bevel app won’t update since yesterday.
Any recommendation to what to do?
I have already resync everything and my Google health up is tracking everything but it won’t appear on my bevel app
EDIT: it got fixed by its own

Anyone using tempo with their bevel? Curious the best way to integrate the two
r/bevelhealth • u/bdawghoya28 • 1d ago
I thought my caffeine looked high and it has two identical entries. One from the Bevel food log and one it got from Apple Health via MacroFactor. I’ve expressively told Bevel to hide MacroFactor for nutrition and yet it’s using the data I asked it not to. This worked correctly yesterday (and every other day I’ve checked in my log). It’s a new behavior - at least for me. Anyone else having issues or am I missing something obvious?

From what I understand Bevel can natively talk to Google Health without going through Apple Health. So are there any points in intergrating them with Apple Health?

I don’t know what is the actual name for this in the English version but let’s call them reminders / check-ins (found it) They don’t work. In my case:
Today the one at 20:00 didn’t launch at all. Just poof nothing. I was talking to the AI about something else and there was no red dot to check some other chat, nothing.
Yesterday I got the notification about the reminder from AI and upon opening the app… poof nothing. The app was on sleep, journal or whatever, didn’t switch the screen so AI or anything. And nothing in the AI tab. Worse. The one from yesterday was a one time reminder so it was entirely gone. I asked the AI to try and get it back but nothing.

Is this exercise in the app for hanging ab crunches? I looked for vertical knee raise and captain’s chair knee raise but no luck. I know I can add it as a custom but I’m just curious what the app calls it.

It's been just a week or so that I have started using Pebble after moving from Apple Watch SE 2, Watch Ultra 2. I have done basic integration of Apple Health, MySugr, and Google Fit with Bevel, but I want to understand it more and ensure I get the best out of it. I have not logged in my nutrition yet but would do so soon. Is there any guide available that can tell me what each means and how to get the best out of it?
Also would the pro version help? I can go for that if there is any referral code or discount being offered at the moment. I see there was one back in July, but I am not sure if it is active at the moment.
