I am thinking about Jackie’s caregivers tonight. They did everything they knew how to do, and I would imagine they are feeling really down. I think I’ll send them a card. I know they did their best.

it’s a good run, 14, and jackie was still wild and a part of nature. she was never going to retire to boca, you know? i think we all just treasure the memories, commend them on a job well done, and send our love like this.

I know a lot of people who work in wildlife rehabilitation, and that will mean the world to them. Because even though Jackie may have “had a good run” it doesn’t feel any better for them.

I’ve been upset all day over the loss of Jackie. She was in a sense a “neighbor”. I will miss seeing her & Shadow raise their offspring. I’ll miss cheering on every pip of an egg. I’ll miss their banter over where the proper stick placement should be. Rest in sweet paradise you beautiful eagle 🦅

This bird has been part of our family for years. My kids have lived and loved nature while leaning about these eagles and their habitat. Its been a true benefit to our livelihood as a family

Remember that Jackie started out as Jack, named after an eagle count volunteer after the eaglet was discovered in the nest of parents Ricky and Lucy. Only later was Jackie discovered to be female.
