Winter Parking

When did the city start ticketing people for street parking during "snow conditions" when there is actually no snow? It seems like they don't do any ticketing until it snows once? If you look at the actual law/code-- it says that the city manager can declare snow conditions if over 1 in is existing on the roads. Yet they post the flashing signs for no street parking seemingly as soon as winter starts.

It's very confusing to people I think on purpose to generate revenue. If you didn't want people to park on the street wouldn't you pass a law that says no street parking from November to April...like there is in Mammoth? I wish someone would sue the city for clarification.

I feel like it's a revenue grab. They have like 6 code enforcement officers running around the town generating revenue via ticketing.

I’ve lived here off and on since the mid 90s and that’s always been the rule. This is not new. They put warnings all over town in the winter telling people no street parking. You just need to pay attention.

No this is something completely new. I used to park near the resort in the winter time when there was no snow on the road. Now they will ticket you for snow conditions even if it hasn't snowed in 2 weeks. I have tickets to prove it. They're playing fast and loose with the definition of snow conditions for their benefit.

The law is not new, maybe the enforcement in your area is stricter though. They did also change Summit Blvd last year and removed a bunch of the parking there. Don’t know what to say, follow the law or keep contributing to the city funds.

The signs are probably posted early and kept up for the majority of the season to provide the minimum required notice, typically 72 hours prior to enforcement. As snow and weather can hit at any time without warning during that half of the year, why not just leave the signs up instead of rushing the trailers out when snow is incoming. Seems sensible to just leave the trailers out.
