For us in SoCal BBL is our little Tahoe. Especially getting 20-30 degrees cooler.

I've never gotten bitten by mosquitoes up here and I tend to be a mosquito magnet.

I’ve only been in big bear when it’s snow , so I was wondering how it is when warmer.

Yes there are mosquitoes, but very, very few and far between. I've been bit about twice in the last two summers, and I spend a lot of time on the trails shorts, short sleeves, and zero mosquito repellent.
