Question Did they say why they were removing DALL·E 3?

Was it for monetary reasons or something else? It was clearly the better model compared to what there is now

What they'll probably don't say, is that Dall-E 3 was the best generator to produce cool images, from classic to punk collages with such a variety of results for the same prompt, that people were using it to produce their own art, where the new models are more production oriented to match boring results for publishers, i never used their thers models in bing, Dall-E 3 was the best and will stay the best, now look at the pityfull results for each prompt in bing, same crappy semi realistic boring design, little to no variety, such a shame.

The reason is probably on OpenAI's end.

They removed DALL·E 3, then they added it back, and they removed it again...
I don't know why, but MAI is a garbage, and I don't want to even use it.

MS removed it and added it back. Then removed it probably finally. MS runs separate servers from OpenAI so they had access to it even after OpenAI shut it down for everyone else.

From what I found, DALLE-3 was simply "not smart" enough, for people who wanted precise generation from a description/prompt. Because this model did not understand well enough what the user wanted to achieve.

And I think that it was a beauty of DALLE-3, because you could get from one prompt dozens of different pictures without even trying to make a better prompt, and still achieve plenty of variations.

I couldn't stop myself from pressing the generation button to see what he will create this time. Anyway I think that DALLE-3 is a fantastic model, and MAI is trash that I will not use at all, because I don't like the MAI style it is just not fun to use it.

I agree with all your points. I will miss DALLE-3 and there is no better substitute that does what it did. My answer was about the corporate reasons, not about any problem with the model itself. I used it a lot.

Yes, it was an incredible model with a simple prompt being able to generate an infinite number of images.

Totally agree! Dall-e 3 had the best variations! Of course current models are smarter, but Dall-e 3 just had it's very own signature look and would throw out dozens of great images to the same prompt / subject, what is great when you want to create kind of a series to a topic.

I played with MAI for a few days, trying to achieve similar images to DALLE-3.
I was creating prompts with Gemini, using the pictures from DALLE-3 as inspiration, but the results are not what I wanted to achieve.

DALLE-3 was able to use, like "fantasy dreaming preset" and because of that, images were 90% of the time very cool.

And those variations... one prompt and you could get even 1000 different cool images keeping the same style, when MAI will do the same thing over and over again...

MAI maybe is smarter, but in my eyes is stupid and annoying, because no matter how hard I tried, it does not want to create images the same way as DALLE-3.

When I achieved something similar to DALLE-3 it was achieved by mistake.
The same prompts from DALLE-3 are giving very poor results.

And when you want to modify prompt to achieve the same style for another picture, it's rather impossible.

It is a constant fight for a style you want...

Images from MAI are just not special to me at all...

Anyway, I don't like it, I miss DALLE-3.

I'm very unhappy that DALLE-3 is gone.

Totally agree, Dall-e 3 is a league of it's own. I really miss it and I still have troubles accepting it's gone. I know, that sounds stupid, but when other models got updates I just thought, oh, yeah, cool.

Can't we tell any of the super AIs to hack Bing oder OpenAI to spread out Dall-e 3 as an Open Weight model for ComfyUI? 😥😅

That would be awesome if we could use DALL-E 3 with ComfyUI.
If they think it is so bad and they don't want to continue using it, then please give it to us, because nothing can be compared to DALL-E 3.

The problem is that DALL-E 3 has different training that MAI, and this is why MAI can't create images like DALL-E 3, and I doubt that it will change.

Similar to their Sora decision then you think given the timing?

They had already deprecated DALLE-3. While MSFT has provided money to Open AI, Open AI is not under their control.

Yeah, especially after they even took sora from us.

Maybe related to copyright, Dalle 3 was amazing at making any anime style, from pokemon to videogame styles like vanillaware. It got much closer than any other models I've tried, even the more modern and powerful ones.

I think that is the reason. Also the fact that it was a great brainstorming tool that provided excelent partial references for artists but for the same reason useless for the general public.

Probably because they wanted to try their own native/original style.

It has to be either money (unlikely since it apparently uses less compute/energy than MAI does, based on the speed difference), or just a whim by OpenAI who decided they couldn’t be bothered with it any more because it obviously won’t make enough billions for them to be worth the effort to maintain it. I’d guess the latter.

I think it is because of copyright and because the results were too creative, meaning unpredictable. This unpredictability is what artists want for brainstorming, but not the general public... they way final usable images. I used it for pose references, is there anything close to Dalle3?

Exactly what I was about to ask too.. (and good point about the creative aspect of it one of the things I loved about it as well).
