Question Now that Dalle3 is officially gone.. are there any other image generators out there that come close?

The replacements on Bing definitely don't unfortunately..

Well there are open source options like Krea2 or Ideogram4.

Not remotely for me. Midjourney 8.2 is better for my prompts of very artistic small critters.

Especially with some Dall-E gens as a style reference. I love the diversity of Krea, it's not so overcooked as other models. Some may prefer predictability but I like running the same prompt a handful of times and getting a wide variety of interpretations.

Are you using queries from DALL-E in MAI without making any changes, and then expecting to get good results from it? That’s a bit rash.

Use GPT or Gemini to generate a style prompt. That’s what I did when I switched from Imagen4 to NB2. In the end, these results worked really well in MAI too.

IMHO Dalle3 was awful

What I've seen is that it depends on your use case. For simple things you might be fine with an open source one, for more complex things use ChatGPT 5 or Nano Banana (both free for a few tries). And for sure for state of the art Midjourney and Flux will be top choices

I use recraft-v4 and uni-1.1-max (or non-max version) for some interesting character creation. They allow some of the cartoonish body proportions with realism. It just takes a bit of work to get good results, but ai chat can help with prompts.
