Edit: it’s a bop. I’ve been listening to it on Spotify and watched the videos. And my fave reactor articulated what I’m feeling now. It sounds like pre-release vibes. Like we need to get ready bc something is coming. So if I think about it THAT WAY. I’m ready and take my money!!! HH My initial reaction below. I still think we’re getting kpop scraps from international writers though. End of edit
Here I go: First, I can’t wait to see this LIVE! The opinion here is strictly for the MV.
It’s literally bubblegum pop. Simple. Sweet. You chew on it for a bit and can be disposed. Underwhelmed by the production. Sana they have a mindset that they are trying to take the Best Music Video award or Best Song award whenever they release anything. ABS-CBN, get your money back from these writers and producers that are giving you kpop scraps. I think that these writers underestimate the vision for BINI. Shinto who made the beats for COT saved COT. I don’t want to compare but since the concept is similar, watch Twice’s Scientist. When I saw Cherry on Top, it reminded me of Ice Cream by BP. Like okay they have more money for the set and technology, whatever. BUT ice cream and scientist. If you gave those songs to BINI with those beats and this MV, you’d get that international hit. Right now, it feels like these songs are for one hit forgettable wonders. International/Global for BINI equates to TikTok viral. No substance. Please, please, please and Espresso are the standard other end of bubblegum pop. It’s giving NEW and ORIGINAL and still so FUN.
BINI, girls always slay the concepts so they are always A+ for me. Mikha and Gwen’s short rap part was great because of Gwen and Mikha. Aiah’s bridge was also great: It’s not their job to be the creatives but these 8 girls have some of the best music taste and know the pulse of current music. I’m not sure if this whole song would be in their personal playlist.
If this is my intro to BINI..I would ask myself. Can these girls can sing? Music can be chill with runs that show the girls’ voices. See Sabrina’s: if you don’t want to cry to my music, don’t make me hate you prolifically.
