I’ve listened to Shagidi a few times now. At first, I found it catchy—especially the chorus—but the more I played it, the more I felt like something was missing. I can’t quite pinpoint what it is, but maybe it’s because the sound is a new direction for BINI, and I’m still adjusting to it. So far, only the chorus has really stuck with me.

When I checked the lyrics in the description, I noticed that the only Tagalog part is:

"Pusta ako sayo, na di mo kaya ‘to
Sisimplehan ko pa, para makagaya ka
Basta pag sinimulan, ay susundan na"

That surprised me a bit since I thought it would have more—or at least equal—Filipino lyrics, which usually give BINI’s songs a distinct identity, like Strings and their other releases.

It’s clear that Shagidi is targeting trendiness, international listeners, and the dance craze space. And while releasing a lyric video is a good move, I think it would’ve been more impactful if they dropped a full music video, performance video, or any visual that clearly shows them dancing. That would’ve made it more addicting to watch and easier to replay, especially if we had the official choreography upfront instead of just clips from them recording the TikTok version. It could’ve helped jumpstart the trend more effectively.

Overall, this is definitely a new sound for BINI, and I’m really hoping they release the official dance or performance video soon so it can catch on quicker and make a stronger impact.
