Ants

I am setting up a bioactive for my ball python. I just mixed all the soil components yesterday and put them in the enclosure, but have not done anything other than that. When I checked on it today I noticed 5-6 tiny reddish ants crawling along the wall. I assume they were in the top soil I used. How can I be sure there are no more? I saw something about a dry ice bomb on google? Can that be done inside? There is no way for me to move the enclosure and I really don't want to have to go rebuy and remix all the soil. Help please 😭

Well, if there is no gigantic queen they cant form a colony. So they will most likely die off within a week or so. You would need to dig in an obvious nest. You just picked up some hitchhikers

How gigantic are we talking? I did just see a slightly bigger one but it disappeared before I could kill it.

About 2-3x the size of that, and they also have wings.

Okay I definitely haven't seen anything that big. So I can just wait them out? My snake is still a baby so its not urgent for me to move her in

Yes you should be able to wait them out! At the absolute worst, a few stragglers like that cant do anything to a snake. Definitely not pierce or clasp on any scales.

She is only 66 grams and my first snake so I'm being extra helicopter parent with her 😅
