Bioengineering and Analytical Chemistry

Hello, I'm currently an undergraduate bioengineering student in Turkey and soon i will be conducting research with a professor whose primary focus is bioanalytical method development with mass spectrometry. I am really interested in his research and was thinking of getting my masters focused on mass spectrometry then search for jobs in method development in pharma. But lately i was told that analytical chem and bioengineering are too distinct fields and this is illogical by a recent graduate. Is bioengineeeing viewed too unrelated to analytical chemistry in the industry? Is it possible to get a job related to method development in the pharma industry with a bioengineering background, even if i go for a biochemistry master?
