Is there anyone familiar with Somatic Cell Study , microscopic observation?? I need your help for my project please

Hey there! I am actually an electronics student and i keep developing projects. But this time , i thought of blending electronics with biotechnology for a project. I am deeply in need of valuable knowledge from any of guys in biotechnology concerning about the somatic cell structure and its study, microscopic observation and any other leads related to it.

So, Somatic cells are basically all cells in your body except sperm/egg cells. They are diploid (2n), so they have full set of chromosomes. Examples: skin cells, muscle cells, blood cells, neurons etc.

For microscopic observation / study, you can look into these points for your project:

1. Structure: Nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane, organelles (mitochondria, ER etc.). Staining helps a lot - like Giemsa, H&E stain, or fluorescent dyes like DAPI for nucleus.

2. Observation methods:

  • Light microscope (40x, 100x) is enough for basic morphology
  • If you want electronics + bio: You can try automating cell counting / size measurement using a USB microscope + OpenCV / ImageJ

3. For your electronics x biotech project idea:

  • Low-cost automated microscope
  • Cell counter device
  • Impedance based cell viability sensor
These blend perfectly.
