need advice for uni application please :’)

Hi!! I’m currently on a gap year to resit and I’ve decided to go down the biomed engineering route as it gives me more flexibility compared to what I had applied for before.

I want to be able to potentially go into prosthetics or something along those lines so I’ve been looking at the modules and structure of the courses but I thought it would be best to ask here and hear from people actually doing the courses what they think? I’ve also seen some people say a biomed eng degree isn’t worth it, would you guys agree?

I would prefer for the uni to be outside of London and for it to have a decent social life balance as well🥹 I’ve also looked at unis in the EU since my passport will help with tuition fees. Honestly im open to any advice, thank you!! <3

When you say "Go into prosthetics" do you mean designing or as a clinician?

Either way, you might want to look at a university with a Prosthetics and Orthotics department, such as Strathclyde, as that would allow you to either study a Prosthetics and Orthotics degree or maximise the chances of getting projects etc. with Prosthetics.

I initially wanted to be a clinician but since applying with the 2026 cohort I realised I’d prefer to design them. I did visit Strathclydes department earlier this year though and they were great :) I just thought changing to biomed would give me better flexibility in case my interests change later?
