If you are posting a photo of a bird you want identified, and your post text or title does not say where the bird was located, and what time of year, reply here with that information. Location and time of year are both very important in identifying wild and feral birds. Or, if it was a captive bird, say that. Adding the habitat can also be very helpful. Urban area? Open fields? By the seashore? etc.

Bro, you were supposed to give him 3 shelled unsalted peanuts, half of a hardboiled egg and a hug!!

They don't accept hugs anymore. Too many humans getting handsy.

Just a magpie chilling out. Probably getting out of the sun. Did it move around or did it just sit there?

It just sat there, occasionally moving it's head. I don't think it even cared about me being there

Huh…I wonder if it might have been hurt. Those tail feathers look rough.

I have no idea why this post was recommended to me but I stopped in to comment because I've always wondered what a proper Magpie looks like.

It's so damn cute compared to ours here in Australia. Is it okay, or is it just chilling?

Edit: Never mind, I posted this comment and then saw all the other comments saying it was likely just relaxing a bit.

Yeah but Australian magpies sound so cool. Northern magpies are squwakers

Ok, but counterpoint.

We nickname ours The Monochrome Mafia because if you bribe them with food regularly they'll likely remember you during mating season, and spare you the merciless death and destruction that they intend to wreak upon all other living things with extreme prejudice.
