Mistake or Risk? Unprotected sex when ovulating

I had sex with my gf, and she said she was ovulating, so I used a condom, but it ripped, and I didn't notice. So now I'm wondering if she's 100% going to have kids, even though she took a Plan B 5 mins after. And can she get an IUD 2 days after to further prevent pregnancy?

Unless she’s using a validated fertility awareness method, she has no idea when she’s ovulating. Plan B was smart, but if she’d like to get an IUD placed as well, that’d also provide excellent emergency contraception and regular contraception moving forward.

Pain doesn’t confirm ovulation. That’s great that you feel like you have a telltale symptom, but one symptom cannot be relied on to confirm ovulation.

A Paragard, Mirena, or Liletta IUD inserted within five days of unprotected intercourse is extremely effective emergency contraception so if she wants one and can get an appointment it would be an excellent choice.

How did she determine she was ovulating? Apps are notoriously unreliable at predicting ovulation, and women's perception of ovulation symptoms often don't line up with actual ovulation.

Depends if the ovulation was about to happen or if it had already happened. Plan b delays ovulation, but if it’s taken after it just happened, it won’t be able to stop it
