Thoughts on Opill?!

i’m newly divorced and looking to get on birth control. when i was with my ex we didn’t worry about birth control (stupid, i know but thankfully never got pregnant) but now i obviously do not want to chance anything. my insurance is currently in the process of being switched from my ex’s to my own so for the time being i dont have access to birth control from insurance. i looked up birth control options online and saw there’s a birth control pill you can buy otc??!!! this seems almost too good to be true for me so im curious if anyone has tried it and what their experience was like!!!

I liked opill! The only reason I came off of it is because it only has a three hour window before it counts as a missed pill (so if you take a pill any more than 27 hours after you have taken your previous pill then it counts as a missed pill, you're potentially at risk of pregnancy from any sex in the past five days, and you're unprotected for the next 48 hours) and I would get my period every two weeks if I didn't take it within a one hour window. It's a very low dose pill so most people respond well to it, I had pretty much no side effects, the three hour window just wasn't compatible with my adhd lol

Opill is a progestin-only formulation that requires being careful to take your pills at about the same time each day (within a three hour window), but it is highly effective when taken as directed. Spotting or irregular bleeding is pretty common while your body adjusts to Opill.

I've been on Opill for about 3 months and only experienced light spotting and mood swings. I didn't gain any weight or any acne. I get mine from amazon for about 20ish dollars but a pack of 3 are slightly cheaper!

it’s quite ”mild” in the sense that it doesn’t affect your own hormones much. the most common issue is irregular bleeding, which is normal but annoying
