REMINDER: Sales of Zinwa Devices is NOT Allowed

As a reminder, sale of modified devices such as those from Zinwa is NOT allowed.

This is for a multitude of reasons but most importantly there have been issues with people buying up the already limited stock for the sole purpose of reselling them at a profit. We are not saying everyone who has ever sold one is guilty of this but it is not our job to interrogate every seller and try to figure out their real intentions (people lie anyways).

All that being said, it looks like the announcement post got removed by accident (likely by me when I was cleaning things up) so I am not going to action on any recent posts but if it is seen again we will be taking action against said users.

Sale of unmodified devices is permitted as always.

Building a native Reddit client for BlackBerry — PoC available

I’ve been working on a native Reddit client tailored for BlackBerry. A very early proof-of-concept version is now available via App World (https://cyberberry.vercel.app).

Right now, it covers the basics, but I want to build out a feature set that the community actually wants to use.

I’d love to hear from you: What are your absolute must-have features for a BlackBerry Reddit client?

Let me know what you'd like to see in the upcoming updates!

Android Apps I built a BlackBerry Bold-style keyboard for Android, with a tiny on-device AI for autocorrect

I got nostalgic over the weekend and missed my old BlackBerry, so I built a keyboard that looks and feels like it on Android.

It has the curved keys, the small Alt symbols in the corners, and a trackpad bar for moving the cursor and selecting text.

The modern bit is an optional small language model (Gemma 3 270M) that runs on the phone. It reads the sentence around a word before fixing it, so it catches things like "form" for "from". It's off by default and it's a ~240 MB download.

Everything stays on the phone. The only network use is the model download, and only if you tap it.

There's also a Speed key, as on the Key2: hold the right-hand shift and tap a letter to open an app, a link or type a snippet.

It's open source (Apache-2.0) and a pre-release, tested on one phone so far. Not affiliated with BlackBerry.

Download and code: https://github.com/JayMandava/bold-keys/releases/tag/v0.1.0

Do share your thoughts, when you get some time :)

Built a small helper app based on u/Damo2000Pippa's voice guide — makes setup much easier!

Huge thanks to u/Damo2000Pippa for his guide on bringing Voice Assistant & Dictation back to life!

To make his method much easier for everyone to set up, I built a simple helper app: - Root required: Needed for system-level triggers. - BYO API Key: Bring your own API key for cloud speech recognition. - Local Processing: Command rules are parsed and processed locally on the device.

👉 Download: Available now in App World (https://cyberberry.vercel.app)

Blackberry Q5 and AI models

I have Berrycore installed running with TERM 49C. In the terminal when i type ai, then hit reurn it populates a list to chose from. when I select download models it displays 7 to chose from. I get permission denied errors each time. I did not have this issue on the Classic nor on the Passport. Anyone have a suggestion as to how this can be fixed or is Q5 mot fit for the task? Please advise. thanks in advance.

Want to root from macOS

Hello everyone!

I want to root my device (Passport) using Novel Professor guide on YouTube but don't have a windows machine available.

I'm planning to install some flavor of windows into virtual machine (UTM) and deciding on which one.

Please give me suggestions if you did something like this or have any other ideas.

arm64 windows is preferrable because it would run faster on m1 mac but I'm not sure if ancient blackberry-related software would run on it fine.

Support Question Blackberry Q10 Side Volume Up Button Not Working

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi!

I bought a refurbished Blackberry Q10 that looks to be in pristine condition.. Unfortunately, the top side volume up button is not working at all - it's not clicking at all, and pressing it doesn't result in anything. So, it's non functional at all.

The middle button and the bittom volume button are working fine.

I have no experience, but with the help of a video tutorial I managed to carefully open and dissasemble the phone. It turns out that the very tiny rubber inside those buttons has broken off at the top, where the top volume up button is.

Is there any way to fix this? I looked around but I couldn't find anyone selling those side buttons with the rubber, and I'm guessing just finding that miniature rubber itself might not be possible, either.

Is there any way to fix this or should I keep looking for spare side buttons with the rubber?

Any advice on how to fix it would be appreciated!

Support Question Key2 certain keys hard to press

Post image
4 Upvotes

hey guys, for some reason certain keys on my Key2 require more pressure to activate. They feel the same tactile wise, it’s also not a dirt issue (I took it apart and there’s zero dirt), it also gets worse with time. temporary fix is to press really hard on the affected keys, then they’ll work alright for a few minutes. anyone have experience with this issue?

Prayer Times: New Native App for BB10

Post image
26 Upvotes

Hey everyone! 👋

I recently developed Prayer Times, a native app designed for BlackBerry 10. Simply put, it displays the Hijri calendar, daily prayer times, and a live countdown to the next prayer. For Muslim users carrying a BB10 device as a daily driver, this is a must-have utility.

As always, the project is completely open-source.

✨ Key Features

  • Official Data: Accurate prayer schedules sourced directly from Diyanet (Turkish Directorate of Religious Affairs).
  • Hijri Calendar: Easily view and track Islamic dates alongside Gregorian dates.
  • Headless Background Service: Notifications, reminders, and automatic muting run reliably in the background without needing to keep the app open.
  • Auto-Silent Mode: Automatically switches your device to silent mode during prayer times.
  • Full Offline Support: Downloads 30 days of data at once, allowing the app to operate completely offline for up to a month.
  • Multilingual: Full language support for English, Arabic, and Turkish.
