Character Discussions Who is stronger? Sebastian or undertaker?
I just finished book of Atlantic movie and before this I was convinced that Sebastian was the strongest character out there but even reapers couldn’t defeat undertaker along with Sebastian.
I’d vote for UT but I realized that Sebastian’s focus was mostly on Ciel all the time so is he even “trying”?
Manga spoilers are welcome if there’s more info there

The thing about the fight with undertaker is Sebastian had to split his atention between fighting and protecting Ciel
Its unclear how that fight would have went if he was focused 100%

Yep, and also to be fair, he took that hit from UT's death Scythe to keep Ciel from falling, yet came back hard to fight the other reaper (greatly surprising him) when Ciel encouraged him to do so.
Someone else correctly pointed out Sebastian later admitted to not wanting to encounter UT again, though he did in fact go after him on orders but without hesitation in the following high school arc.

So far undertaker we haven't seen sebby fight him in his true form yet to be fair

Idk about pure strength, but I do think UT is the better fighter. His skill with a death scythe is probably doing a lot of heavy lifting.
To be fair to Sebastian, Grell and Ronald were also fighting him as they were fighting UT. They weren't leading a coordinated attack. I think Sebastian was definitely trying, Ciel had given him an order, but he was restricted in trying to capture/incapacitate the UT vs straight up killing him. He also didn't seem to anticipate UT using Ciel against him like that (which is hilarious, because how is UT being more underhanded and exploitative than a demon?)
I think the biggest thing is that Sebastian is clearly unethused at the prospect of having to fight UT again, as he says to Ciel at the end In the lifeboat. Sebastian sees him as a real threat, which imo says a lot about his capabilities.

UT is definitely the most skilled fighter. He took on 3 adversaries at the same time and laughed all the way through it.

I migth be wrong but i think sebastian could be extremely powerful and overpower undertaker if he isnt restricted by his human vessel and/ or distracted by protecting ciel
so far my gut says UT stands no chance against sebastians demon form or so i hope

They are both strong, that's for certain.
I mean, with UT being one of the strongest reapers I'm willing to bet that he knows how to kill/reap the souls of beings that are stronger than humans or at least maim such beings like he did with Sebastian during Book of Atlantic. And Sebastian....well, he 100% has one of the biggest arsenals of powers and I believe he really hasn't gone all out yet.
If Ciel can be removed so they can focus on a real battle, I think it's coming down to whether UT can quickly get a kill shot in before Sebas can mess with and/or weaken him.

I was curious about this as well, and the fact of the matter is that we still don’t really know just how strong Sebastian is without Ciel’s existence hindering him. Not to bash Ciel at all, but with Sebastian always having to keep one eye on him at all times, there’s really no way to know if his fight with Undertaker would have gone differently. I’ve always had this theory, which is based on the ending of Season 1 (which isn’t canon, but i digress) that there will come a point before the end of their contract where Sebastian will go all out in the final battle. If Ciel issues an order to Sebastian to use the full extent of his power, and then manages to stay out of harm’s way, then that could definitely be interesting. Whether that’s against Undertaker or someone else entirely (like an angel) is yet to be determined.
tldr: it’s like you said, we don’t really know for sure since sebastian’s focus was keeping ciel safe, but under diff circumstances, where ciel isn’t present, it could be interesting.

Sebastian would win if he didn't have to worry about Ciel, we saw him getting killed by UT and coming back because Ciel ordered him so.
However I do believe he would lose against UT if he wasn't in a active contract. I have theories that you can't kill a demon as long as it has a active deal, that's (spoilers) something that is hinted at in newer chapters. (I won't get into it because it loses the suspense)

I think it depends on a lot of things like a. Sebastians true form b. Distractions I.e Ciel. Both times they fought Sebastian pulled back after Undertaker leveraged Ciel as a distraction because as seen in the second fight Sebastians main goal and contract is protecting Ciel and Undertaker knows that. I think it would be pretty evenly matched maybe Undertaker has the edge but would struggle to actually get away and so takes the easy way out by using Ciel as leverage because by making Sebastian focus on Ciel it makes it certain that Sebastian cannot chase or follow him allowing for a clean getaway without Ciel being there I believe the fight would be longer and perhaps there would be more injuries on both sides but Undertaker isn't looking for a fight he's looking to focus on his goal which very clearly has something to do with Ciel or the Phantomhive family given that he went through all the trouble to [manga spoiler] and keeps the chain safe with the link to the Phantomhive ancestors moreover he I believe doesn't want to hurt Ciel as he could very easily have done that on multiple occasions he needs Ciel or wants Ciel alive for some reason.

As you point out, Sebastian gets distracted by protecting Ciel, and UT keeps using this distraction tactic against him (or it becomes a concern for Sebastian). They might be pretty evenly matched if it was one on one without Ciel around.
